Healthy Beet and Yogurt Crunchy Bone Biscuits for Dogs With Oats
Ingredients:
* 2 cups (180 g) rolled oats (blended into coarse oat flour)
* 1 cup (245 g) plain unsweetened yogurt (room temperature)
* 1 cup (240 g) unsweetened applesauce (plain, no xylitol)
* 1/2 cup (120 g) beet purée (cooked beets, blended smooth)
* 1 tbsp (15 ml) water (only if dough is too thick)
Supplements:
* 1/4 tsp (1 g) turmeric powder (optional, for joint support)
* None
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Add rolled oats to a blender or food processor and pulse into a coarse flour texture.
3. In a large bowl, combine oat flour, yogurt, applesauce, and beet purée. Mix until a thick pink dough forms. Add 1 tbsp (15 ml) water only if needed.
4. Roll the dough on a lightly oat-floured surface to about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick.
5. Cut into bone-shaped treats using a cookie cutter and place them on the prepared baking tray.
6. Bake for 25–30 minutes until firm and lightly dry on the outside.
7. Turn off the oven and leave the treats inside for 20 additional minutes for a crunchier texture.
8. Cool completely before serving. The finished biscuits should look lightly textured, matte pink, and slightly speckled with oats like the picture.
Storage:
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Freeze for up to 2 months. Allow frozen treats to thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
