Every weekend, we take steps—forward, sideways, and sometimes even backwards. But with every step, we choose to learn.

It’s easy to compare one breed to another, or one dog to another of the same breed. But comparison, while tempting, is a thief dressed as curiosity. It disguises itself as seeking knowledge or standards, when really, it chips away at your trust—trust in your dog, your process, and yourself.

Comparison rarely asks, “What does this dog need?” It demands, “Why aren’t you like that dog?” And just like that, the joy fades. The present moment gets traded for someone else’s highlight reel.

There were times I doubted both P**t and myself. But as my therapist would say, “If doubt is the answer, what’s the question?” Often, the question is rooted in fear—fear that we’re not enough, that we’re not doing it right, that someone else has the secret we don’t.

But what if the secret is this: stay in your lane, tune into your dog, and trust that the story you’re writing together is the one worth telling. 📚
