I am amazed at our egg amount this year! I really expected to get a couple hundred less from the chickens this year since they're 2.5 years old! But they easily beat 3000 again! 🥳

The ducks are loving this snow! They are rarely in their house during the day, even with several inches of snow on the ground. They prefer to take advantage of the lid breaking on their waterer and toss dirty water everywhere. 😂

Our ducks beat the chickens in egg production for the time today! 😂

Also fun to report that we've hit over 3,000 eggs already! The ducks have helped with that, but I really think we would have hit it again by the end of the year even with just the chickens! If you're looking for strictly production, these ISA Browns are very impressive! 3,000 eggs in a year from just 12 layers that are already 2.5 years old!! 🥳

And yes, I'm one of those weird people who not only keeps track of how many eggs we get but how many of each kind and color. 😂🤷‍♀️

We've been getting duck eggs regularly now and I thought it would be fun to show some comparison pics! The duck egg in the middle is compared to a regular size chicken egg on the left and a double-yolk egg on the right!

The duck eggs should get a little bigger as the ducks continue to mature, but I do think this a Khaki Campbell egg and will probably stay pretty small!

The last picture shows the egg cracked and being cooked. You can see theres quite a bit more yolk to white in a duck egg, which results in a richer tasting egg! Yum!

Also, as a side note, we started closing up the ducks in their house at night to try to encourage them to lay their eggs in the cleaner straw in their house. 😉 This morning, we got a perfectly clean white egg from them, which I was very happy about! 😂
