“Swagger” is a 2015 AQHA 16h gelding by No Doubt I’m Lazy aptly named for his presence in and out of the pen. Between his rookie/L1 select owner and being shown in the open— he earned his ROM in the L1 WP last year, year end titles in multiple events, circuit championships, and points across multiple levels of events. Swagger shows promise in the trail, western riding, and would do great in the english events as well. He has an easy tempo in the jog and lope, and is smooth at the extended trot too. Over the last year he has developed into a GREAT showmanship horse. I could see him earning a world class title in that event! Swagger has great feet, clean legs, and requires minimal maintenance. What a fun show to finish off our season! attended the Oregon Quarter Horse Assoc Fall Classic last weekend with goals in mind of finishing strong on personal achievements. Being able to compare to the first show of the year and recognizing each individuals success in growth. The sun and ability to ride outside was an added bonus. 🌞🤗

𝒜𝓃 𝐸𝒞 𝐵𝓁𝑜𝑔 𝒷𝓎 𝒦𝒶𝓉𝒽𝓁𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝐵𝑒𝒸𝓀𝒽𝒶𝓂 - 𝓘𝓷𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓭

Years ago, I had a baby horse, and when he was about 18 months old, I had the opportunity to have an equine chiropractor work on him. He was wiggly and squirrelly, and I apologized to the chiropractor for that. “That’s okay,” she said, “Little babies haven’t learned how to be inconvenienced yet.”

That was big for me. So big. “𝓘𝓷𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓭.” I hadn’t thought of that before, but it was the perfect word for it. We don’t want our horse to tolerate being hurt, or being treated unfairly, but he dang sure needs to be able to be inconvenienced.

From that day forward, “being inconvenienced” became a more thoughtful part of my horse work. The ability to be inconvenienced and be resilient about it - it’s a skill. It’s a skill for people, it’s a skill in dogs, and it’s a skill in horses. It’s a skill that needs to be purposefully taught, and then carefully developed and expanded over time.

Curbside Cowboy 🤠

15.2+(should finish out at 15.3) 4 yo all around gelding by mult World/Congress Champ sire— How Bout This Cowboy, out of A Good Machine mare.

“Curbie” is a quiet, easy, and straightforward gelding looking for his show partner. If you’re looking for a consistent horse you can put anyone on, young or old, this is the horse you need to come see. He enjoys being turned out with others, has gone on trail rides, been hauled to shows, clips well, stands tied, takes minimal lunging, and is ready to go in any direction. Can extend out for English, and jog nice and slow as well. Has a deep hock at the lope and is very smooth to sit at all gates. His owner is in her 70’s and downsizing, but she comes to ride him weekly and he packs her around safely no problem. There’s not many horses out there you can give a lesson on while the Blue Angels fly overhead! ✈️
