Queens of the Studbook - Perle Argentee
A rare breed's survival is often boiled down to sirelines. Who sires the most foals, who is promoted the most, who is of note. Stallions this, and stallions that, but, without mares carrying and raising those foals, stallions would be nothing at all! And our breed's mares are so much more than just broodmares, with some of the most accomplished horses in our breed, period, being mares.
Perle Argentee was one of the first Improvement mares papered with ASHDA, predating our strike on greys. A percheron of fine quality, she was bred to Rorschach's Hextatic five times and produced four fillies and one colt. Her foals have gone on to be incredible breed ambassadors, proving ability undersaddle, in the driving lines, and in various other arenas. This year, her first Main Book grandfoals will begin arriving.
Her three near identical solid black daughters, RTD's SweetAddiction, RTD's GimmeSomethinSweet, and RTD's SweeterThanSweet, are well known in the breed for their quality and good mindedness and have found their way into several ASHDA programs that know the value of a quality mare that can do it all. Her last daughter, RTD's HotStickySweet, a bay minimal LP filly, has been retained by Rockin' The Dots. Her only son, RTD's SweeterThanWild, is now a highly trained dressage gelding on the west coast, introducing people to the breed on the opposite coast of his birth!
Pearl wasn't just a broodmare, though, and is fondly remembered for her sweet personality and gentle demeanor, with all the temperament and good mindedness expected of one of our breed mares. Though she is gone, her legacy is more than secure, and we are very excited to see her continuing contributions to the breed through her existing foals and future grandfoals!

Make your fantasy a reality!
Introducing American Sugarbush Harlequin Draft Heritage and Stonewall Stud Book stallion, RTDs FirstBornUnicorn (Tink) for the 2022 breeding season.
RTDs FirstBornUnicorn is sired by ASHDA Hall of Fame stallion Rorschach's Hextatic and out of multi-champion titled mare Rockin’ Mighty Belle. DNA tested clear of IMM, PSSM, HYPP, HERDA, GBED, MH, and JEB1. Color tested Ee Aa LP/lp n/W20.
RTDs FirstBornUnicorn stands at 16.3hh after a fresh trim. This stallion is showing promise in various disciplines such as English, western, driving, and medieval games. His gaits are large and thorough, yet smooth as silk like his sire. His loud LP pattern is just the icing on the cake and catches the eyes of judges regardless of the ring he’s shown in. RTDs FirstBornUnicorn’s puppy dog personality and easy going nature is something we expect he will pass onto his foals along with his excellent conformation and brains.
RTDs FirstBornUnicorn has placed well both in in-person show rings as well as in the virtual show rings. Achievements include:
- 2021 Virtual Draft Horse Show ASHDA Champion
- 2020 Virtual Draft Horse Show ASHDA Champion
- 2018 ASHDA Photo Show 1st in heritage stallions and liberty
- 2017 ASHDA Heritage Homegrown Champion
- 2017 ASHDA Heritage Res Champion In Hand
- 2016 ASHDA Heritage Futurity 1st In Hand and At Liberty
Take this opportunity to tailor your foal to the discipline of your choice by using Tink as your next stud; from heavy to light mares, his versatility can produce the Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, In-Hand, Pleasure, Driving, Trail Horse, and/or the war horse of your dreams.
Approved ASHDA mares with draft percentage of 55.25 or more draft will have foals qualified for Main Book registration. All other foals will qualify for ASHDA heritage and may qualify for registration with Stonewall Stud as RTDs FirstBornUnicorn is registered. Mare must be genetically clean and have a clean uterine culture.
Stud fee for 2022 is $400 plus shipping and $200 chute fee, fresh cooled semen only. Non-refundable $150 booking fee including in stud fee. Live foal guarantee.
This boy is absolutely amazing. He gave his first driving lesson to the child of a friend. This is their first time in this type of cart and first opportunity to try and drive a horse. Tot was a super good and patient boy when we ask him to give a lesson. The smile on their face was priceless. After about 30 minutes in the arena we went around the small loop and they got to drive the last quarter of the way back to the property. They were very happy about the opportunity and are looking forward to the next chance to come and play 😁
RTDs FirstBornUnicorn trip around the block
RTDs FirstBornUnicorn is a 5 year old stallion and is registered with the Stonewall Studbook and American Sugarbush Harlequin Draft Association. He is owned ...
I was both prepared and not prepared for the amount of joy this brought me. First hitch, no one at his head, after about 1.5 hours of going through the motions to test the waters and see where he's mental state was. One lap with just me, another lap with the husband and me. He was unsure but willing, then mad when we called it on a good note because he wanted more work. 3 years of prep, now to practice as weather allows and have hands to help. Good boy Stinkers. Very good boy!

Happy Birthday Dom!!!!!!
ASHDA TBT. 2016 ASHDA Heritage stallion, RTD's FirstBornUnicorn (Tink), pictured as a cute youngster, strutting for all the world to see. He’s all grown up now and at 5 years old, Tink reminds so many of his ASHDA HOF sire, Rorschach’s Hextatic. Like his sire Rico, Tink has made his mark in the show ring, both live and virtual. He’s accumulated quite the collection of awards. He began wowing in the ring when he was still just a very young colt, not yet weaned. Even now, Tink is winning and placing both In Hand and under saddle, under the guidance of his owners at Dragon Feather Farm in Colorado.
We look forward to seeing what the future brings for this young stallion.

Because I honestly couldn't wait until the rest of the results are in, Tot got FIRST place in the March Virtual Draft Horse show for Sport Horse In Hand! 1st out of 12 excellent horses! He got 1st out of group 1 but still was 1st overall! SOOO proud of this boy!!!

For our ASHDA page followers in areas that recognize DST, don’t forget to change your clocks tonight. It’s time to get ready to “spring” forward, enjoy that extra hour! We know many equestrians are happy to get extra daylight in the evening to spend with their horses. This is just another sign that Spring is coming. We hope to begin welcoming the arrivals of the 2021 ASHDA foals very soon!

Welcome to another beautiful fall Monday. We can’t think of a nicer way to start off the week, than with this beautiful ASHDA baby, RTD's GonnaFunkYouUp, aka Rouge. She’s a 2018 Heritage filly, bred and owned by Rockin’ the Dots. Rouge is sired by the late HOF ASHDA Heritage stallion, Rorschach’s Hextactic, (Rico) and out of the royally bred Stonewall Studbook Champion, ASHDA Approved Cross mare, Stonewall Scarlett.
Both her dam and sire have a list of accomplishments under their belt. Following in their hoof prints, Rouge has already begun to earn recognition in the show ring! She has been bringing home ribbons and titles since she was a weanling, including earning the 2019 ASHDA Homegrown Heritage Champion title. On both sides of her pedigree, Rouge has some siblings who have wowed in the show ring. Both Rico and Scarlett have produced some amazing foals and Rouge is proving herself to be one to watch in the future.
Rouge recently attended a local show and tackled the obstacle course class. The “rope the steer” part of the course was fun! Rouge gave that steer a serious hard look as the rope sailed towards it. What a great way to get young horses out and expose them to a variety of things.
We look forward to watching this little beauty grow and continue to excel in the show ring.
