As many of you are already aware, animal rights bills Dexter’s Law and Trooper’s Law have been signed into Florida law. Dexter’s Law went into effect on July 1st. Trooper’s Law will go into effect on October 1st. Both bills are named after the dogs who motivated advocates to create the bills. Dexter, beloved by staff and volunteers at Pinellas County Animal Services, was killed by his adopter. Florida State Trooper Orlando Morales found Trooper tied to a fence, standing in rising water as Hurricane Milton was about to hit Florida.
