Green Valley Veterinary Services LLC "Personalized and Compassionate Care for your Animals" ~ We offer a wide variety of reliable veterinary services and preventative care for your livestock.

We also offer compassionate at-home euthanasia for your dogs and cats, to help ease the stress. We are an ambulatory Veterinary Service providing high-quality care for all farm animal species from chickens to draft horses and everything in between. We offer 24/7 service and share on-call time with Coastal Valley Vet. Our routine appointment hours are scheduled Monday - Friday. We also offer acupuncture on all species.

There is some debate about providing supplemental heat for chickens. If you have just a few birds in a large space, then extra heat would be indicated.

If you have outdoor pigs either as pets or for food, they need LOTS of bedding to be able to bury into, as well as a draft free area.

Water should always be liquid, not ice, and keep everybody fed.

Being prepared during cold, winter weather will help your livestock winter a little easier.

Our Story

Green Valley Veterinary Services, (GVVS) is a mobile, ambulatory veterinary practice, with 24/7 service in Eastern Connecticut and most of Rhode Island. We share emergency, on-call time with Coastal Valley Veterinary Services in Old Lyme, CT. Our routine hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 am - 4:00 pm. We offer routine, specialized and emergency services from our state-of-the-art mobile vans for all of your farm animals, (horses, donkeys, mules, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, chickens). Services include health evaluations, vaccines, electronic health certificates, dental work, castration, microchip implants, pregnancy monitoring and delivery, digital radiology, ultrasound, acupuncture, and compassionate & gentle at-home euthanasia for your beloved pets. GVVS is comprised of two Doctors, a Veterinary Nurse, and an Administrative Assistant.

Dr. Dennis Thibeault, DVM, Owner of GVVS, established the practice in 2008. He received his BS in Biology from Fairfield University and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1994. Dr. Thibeault is also certified in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue.

Dr. Michelle Johnson, DVM, Veterinary Associate received her BS in Biology from Midway College in Kentucky, and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2010. Dr. Johnson is certified to perform acupuncture on a variety of species. Dr. Johnson enjoys combining a wholistic approach with traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments such as arthritis, vertebral disc disease, nerve paralysis, lick granulomas, inflammatory airway disease/COPD, and select cases of GI upset/colic.

Alexandria Moen, Veterinary Nurse received her BS in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut in spring 2018. Along with her BS, she also holds her Veterinary Assistant Certification, (CVA) from Texas Veterinary Medical Association. Alex provides medical and non medical care to the patients. She assists in surgery, laboratory procedures, radiography, anesthesiology, treatment, nursing and client education.
