From :

"A few years ago I was sitting in an office with an old veterinarian who was about to retire and he told me he’d been thinking about something. He said, “People have asked me many times why I think God gave us companions like dogs and cats that only live ten years or so. I’ve been thinking about that for 50 years and I think I know the answer... I think it’s because when we choose to live with dogs we choose to witness all the stages of our own life in shorter time span. We see puppies become adults and do dumb things and get into trouble. We see them energetic and healthy in their prime. And then, like us, our dogs get old and they slow down and they die. But we witness it all in this snapshot of life that, if we’re lucky, helps us appreciate what life means for us too. Maybe that’s the gift, maybe they teach us how to do life better since we’re doing it in slow motion compared to them.”
Maybe. ❤️

Life is hard. Dogs help."

Happy Easter! 🌤️🐣

Please remember to hide Easter baskets somewhere where your dog or cat can’t get into them, especially if they have chocolate or xylitol-containing candies in them! 💚🐾

And keep Easter lilies away from your cats! 🩵🐾

May God bless you and your animals with health and happiness! ✝️

Princess Pickles would like to wish you all a HAPPY FRIDAY! 🎉

Hopefully some of you take the time to enjoy this beautiful weather by taking a trip to the beach! 🏖️ Speaking of beach - Did you know hedgehogs can swim? Their spines contain air which helps keep them buoyant. Swimming is great exercise for these little “land urchins!”
(Always make sure your pet is supervised while in or near water.) 🤗

Tis’ the season - Lambing, calving, and kidding are in full swing! 🐑🐄🐐
Dr. O is also having a little one soon! 👶🏼

Housecall appointments will be available up until Tuesday May 20th.
Following that date, regular scheduling will not resume until Monday July 7th.

Telemedicine consultations (for current clients only) and in-home euthanasias may still be accommodated during this time.

Fun fact: Labrador Retrievers have webbed paws, making them exceptional swimmers! Originally bred to help fishermen retrieve nets and catch fish, their love for water runs deep—literally. Whether it's a lake, a pool, or even a puddle, Labs are always ready to dive in and make a splash! 🐾💦

🌸🐾 Easter Safety Alert for Pet Owners! 🐾🌸

Easter is a time for fun, family, and sweet treats, but it’s important to keep our pets safe during the festivities. As you plan your egg hunts and enjoy the holiday, here are some critical tips to protect your furry friends:
1️ Keep Track of Hidden Eggs:
Forgotten eggs can lead to curious noses finding them later! Always count the eggs you hide and ensure they’re all accounted for after the hunt.
2️ Watch Out for Toxic Treats:
Many Easter goodies are hazardous to pets, including:
🍫 Chocolate: Contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs and cats.
🍇 Raisins: Can cause kidney failure, even in small amounts.
🍬 Xylitol: A common sugar substitute in candies and gum that’s highly toxic to pets.
3️ Pet-Friendly Treats:
If you want your pets to join the fun, provide pet-safe treats or toys to celebrate!
Keeping an eye on these risks will ensure that everyone in your family—two-legged and four-legged—has a happy and healthy Easter. If your pet gets into something they shouldn’t, contact me right away or seek emergency care.
