2025 Wilderness Jack Russell Terrier Trial Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 Wilderness Trial! This year brought record heat—Wisconsin felt more like Texas—but a steady breeze kept things tolerable, especially in the conformation ring.

Our WJRTC team worked tirelessly all weekend to keep the trial running smoothly for both dogs and handlers. From start to finish, the teamwork, support, and community spirit were incredible.

A special thank you goes out to our volunteers, participants, and generous sponsors. We also want to recognize our club members who designed and donated amazing prizes. Your creativity and effort were appreciated by all!

We’re already preparing for next year and plan to move the 2026 trial one week earlier: June 13–14, 2026 (avoiding Father's Day weekend). Judges are already being lined up, and we’re excited to build on the success of this year.

Stay tuned for more updates—and we hope to see you next June!

The Canine Equivalent of a Triple Espresso Shot

Small in size, enormous in attitude. Jack Russells are 15 pounds of pure kinetic energy wrapped in a deceptively adorable, mostly white fur suit. Originally bred for fox hunting, they still believe that couch cushions are harboring fugitives and must be relentlessly pounced upon.

Key Features:

Battery life: Infinite. Recharge time: zero.

Bark volume: Somewhere between “mild concern” and “breaking news.”

Personality: Think toddler with a sugar rush and a PhD in manipulation.

Trainability: Exceptionally smart… which they mostly use for mischief. Teaching a Jack Russell something is easy. Convincing them it was your idea is the hard part.

They require firm guidance, daily adventures, and a sense of humor. Perfect for anyone who wants a workout buddy, a part-time comedian, and a full-time bossy best friend. Bonus points if you enjoy being outwitted by something that fits in a tote bag.

Want one that comes with an off switch? Yeah… they don’t make those. But life with a Jack Russell is never, ever boring. And isn’t that kind of the point?
