We sold the farm.

And somehow… we’re still here. 💃

Six years of our lives—every ounce of blood, sweat, tears, dollars, and every fiber of our being—went into planting over 6,000 cut garden rose bushes to create this European-inspired haven in Magnolia, TX we came to call Life In Rose Farm. And despite climate challenges, pest pressures, and disease issues, these roses not only rose to the occasion… they thrived 💐

This morning, we walked the acreage with our girls—the very land that was once nothing more than open pasture for horses and cattle to roam. We reminisced on our earliest days of farming, when our dreams were big, our eyes were bright, and our tails were bushy. We were so full of hope… and so unaware of just how much this land would ask of us.

Today is a bittersweet day as we officially transfer ownership of this property to another lovely family 🥹

But here’s the twist we never saw coming…

Though Shaw and I no longer own the land, we’ve been asked to continue stewarding it by operating Theresa - Life In Rose Farm (NOT OPEN TO PUBLIC) here as usual.

A year ago, when I felt the nudge to scale back in order to spend more time with my children—hence the decision to sell the property—I truly thought I was nearing the end of this rose-growing chapter. I thought I had to give up one beautiful thing for another. Because let’s be real… something always has to give. Can we really have it all?

But somewhere between the prayers, the silence, the tears, and yes… even the negotiations with God, He offered me a third option:

Stay with Me, and I will give you relief. 😭💕

So I trusted.
And I obeyed. And He provided indeed. 🕊️

And in doing so, I realized this calling to grow roses, and to spread beauty and joy to our Southern community and beyond, was not over after all. 🌱

I’m still working out the details with my employer (ahem… God) and my landlord (the new property owner), but for now, I wanted to finally share this long-awaited news with y’all.

Thank you for your love, your patience, your understanding, and your support through this transition. I’ll share more in the months to come, but for now… we’re here to stay, and we’re here to serve 🙏

The final leg of our family trip to Asia was spent in Japan — eating our way through Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo, exploring the cities, and learning to navigate the trains with the help of our friends. 💕 Full hearts, full stomachs, and time so well spent.

One unexpected gift from this part of the trip was attending a Vietnamese Mass in Osaka (of all places) at my parents’ request. It had been over a decade since I last attended one, and halfway around the world, surrounded by young Vietnamese students studying abroad, the world suddenly felt so small.

We met a few other Vietnamese youths while dining out, and hearing their dreams of studying/working in the U.S. was deeply humbling. In that moment, we felt even more grateful knowing that the dream they longed for is the life we get to call our reality 🙏💝

It also made my dad’s decision to bring our family to America all those years ago feel even more meaningful ✨💐

You’re the “reel deal”, Shaw 🎣 Now we just have to work on getting you out there fishing a little more.

Happiest Father’s Day. You’re our favorite 💕

First time for everything! I’d heard about it and thought it was a thing of the past… but nope, it still exists. 🤣 Yep, I had my very first squat toilet experience. IYKYK. And that was just one small part of our fishing excursion in Phu Quoc. But let me tell you — this whole outing was truly the experience of a lifetime. 💝

Shaw loves to fish, but ever since we started the rose farm, he hasn’t had much time for it. 🎣 So whenever we travel, I’m always on the lookout for excursions like this that I know he’d love.

I knew this one would be a bit of a stretch for my friends and my parents, but YOLO, right? A little discomfort every now and then only helps us grow. 🌱

And wow… were we in for the full experience — monsoon storms and all. 🌧️ Everyone was such a trooper through it. The kids had a blast, Shaw was obviously in his element, but what surprised me most was learning that this ended up being the highlight of my dad’s trip. 🥰

It was such an authentic and beautiful way to connect with the people, immerse ourselves in their way of life, and appreciate the abundance that nature has to offer. And getting to eat freshly harvested seafood straight from the ocean? It truly does not get better than that.

Highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

Monsoon storms, squat toilets, fresh seafood, and memories we’ll never forget — Joy Adventures.Local Phu Quoc_Nhà Trên Biển , you gave us the full experience and we loved every minute of it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

How many of us put off the very things we want or need to do, only to keep making excuses for why we haven’t started yet? 🙋‍♀️ Like, I’ll do it as soon as this happens… I’m usually pretty good about diving right in, but lately I’ve been struggling to get my kitchen garden started at home.

We finally made it home from our family vacation late last night—or maybe early this morning 😅 The longest we’ve ever been away from home, let alone leaving our rose farm personally unattended. We came home to a little drainage and water damage issue, but aside from that, the dogs and the roses seem to be thriving… and that’s all that really matters.

No matter where we are in the world, we somehow always end up searching for a garden. If we’re not in our own, we’re wandering through someone else’s—soaking in the beauty, gathering inspiration, and collecting ideas for what we want to grow next 👩‍🌾

From hunting down the edible garden at our hotel in Phu Quoc, where they grow fresh Vietnamese herbs for their restaurants, to trekking over an hour from Tokyo into the suburbs to visit Keisei Rose Garden, home to Japan’s largest rose producer—we somehow always found ourselves chasing a garden.

Our timing to Keisei was a bit off, so many of the roses were between flushes, but we still came across a few varieties we also grow here at Theresa - Life In Rose Farm (NOT OPEN TO PUBLIC). It always gives me a mix of humility and pride to see the same roses we grow in the southern U.S. thriving alongside those in climates far more favorable for them 💝

Funny how priorities change. What once felt like happiness in the form of material things has slowly been traded for home and garden treasures.

Now that I’m back—refreshed, inspired, and reenergized—I’m ready to step into this next phase of my farm and gardening journey, just as God has called me to do 💐

Not going to lie, this was a pretty cool moment—and one that made me pause for a second.

While checking into our hotel in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, halfway across the world from home, someone recognized our family from Life In Rose Farm and took the initiative to introduce herself.💕

The sweet lady, who happened to be another guest at the hotel, shared that she follows our rose-growing adventures on social media after my dad struck up a conversation with her. What are the odds of that, right?!
Meanwhile, I was busy checking in with the concierge when Dad came rushing over, eager to share the exciting tea he had just learned. What puzzled him most wasn’t that someone recognized me—it was how she somehow knew he was related to me. 😂

Later, Shaw and the kids ran into her and her family at the pool. Ironically, I’m the only one that never got to meet her!

It’s funny because most days, it’s just Shaw and me behind the scenes—planting roses, pulling weeds, creating content, and sharing little pieces of our lives. We rarely stop to think about who might be watching or how far those stories might travel 🌎

What started as a small dream on a farm has connected us with people in places we’d never imagined. Moments like this are a humbling reminder that behind every like, comment, and follow is a real person ✨ Thank you for continuing to grow with us thru every twists and turns! 🙏💐

The journey to healing begins with forgiveness, a willing heart, an open mind, and a spirit of gratitude. You are never too old to grow, and my parents showed up and did exactly that. 🌟

It had been more than 36 years since my parents last set foot in Vietnam. Since leaving in 1990, they had carried with them so much pain, torment, and resentment. It took years of encouraging them to return with me, but now that they are finally here, they are appreciating and enjoying it so much more than they ever imagined. 💃

At 74 and 79, this trip was my greatest wish for them and such a special gift to experience while they are still able to travel. And I have to say, my parents are absolute troopers for keeping up with the pace we move at! 🙌

A huge shoutout to Shaw for making this journey extra enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable for mom and dad as they eased back into their motherland. 💕

And a very special thank you to Vietnam and its welcoming people for making this return the trip of a lifetime. Thank you, God Almighty, for bending hearts and making this dream a reality. 🙏

Here’s a glimpse into our time in Vietnam 💐 Cheers to mom and dad returning HOME 💝

P.S. I can’t post photos and videos on FB so to see special footages of our time there, hop on over to this same post on our IG page!

God has blessed me with a precious gift this year: to spend less time with work and more time with my girls 💕 Yesterday’s special Mass was the “passing of the light”, from the graduating 8th graders to our rising 8th graders, who will become leaders of the school. During Mass, I watched the littlest kindergartner walk by and thought, my girls used to be like that not long ago.

I’m so grateful to be present in all of their progressions, milestones, and passages this year. I’d have to miss all of them in the past because of work 😭 And though my girls understood my absence, they shouldn’t have to. I know they appreciate my being there for them now because it shows. It shows in their character, their integrity, their academics, their sportsmanship, their kindness, their confidence, their humor, their growth, and in their faith.

I know God has great plans for us up ahead, but for now, I’ll just revel in these moments 🙏🕊️

I hooted and hollered. I cheered. And…I may have even cursed a little 🫣🤣 But y’all… I had the BEST Mother’s Day weekend just sitting back and watching my girl leave it all on the volleyball court 🏐 Oh, and winning second place overall in the Gold bracket finish was the icing on the cake 🍰

For the last 6 years, Mother’s Day weekend has looked a whole lot different around here — delivering bouquets all over town, hosting Afternoon Teas, setting up Rose Bar, and working through one of the busiest weekends of our entire season here at the farm.

So this year felt different. Slower. Sweeter. A little unfamiliar, if I’m being honest.

Part of me felt guilty… like I should be working, because this is usually go-time in the rose world. But the other part of me knew this was A GIFT — one I wasn’t supposed to miss. 🥹

After the weekend-long regional tournament, my family took me to an early sushi dinner, and I came home and treated myself to some of my rarer home-grown roses. Because if there’s one thing about me… I will always find my way back to the garden 🌱

This Mother’s Day looked different than the last several years, but maybe that’s what made it so special.

A little rest. A LOT OF GRATITUDE. And a quiet feeling that God may be using this pause to prepare me for something, dare I say, even greater ahead 🙏

Turns out, the best bouquet I got this Mother’s Day was getting to watch my girls bloom. 🥹🏐🌹And boy do both of them make this mama so humbled and proud at the same time!

Sending virtual love and many beautiful wishes to all my kickass mamas, mamas to-be, and papas who have to play both roles!

Happiest to you all!! 💐

Sending EXTRA LOVE and good vibes to all my gals longing for this day and others longing for their mamas. My heart is with you 💝

Giving teachers their flowers… literally. 💐🌹

This , we shared our farm-grown rose arrangements with the educators who love, lead, encourage, and pour into our kids day after day.

A small thank-you for a very big calling.
