Sweet Cookie, just 30 pounds, 7-8 months, was dumped in a high kill shelter as a puppy with severe mange.

She was moments from being euthanized, until a foster family stepped up for her in Mississippi.

Cookie is a healed, well adjusted, puppy now, who’s still waiting for the chance to travel North. She has a ticket to transport on Monday but no foster home has been found yet to help her safely land in Maine.

Cookie loves touch and craves affection. She longs to be close to her people.

She loves friends and plays well with others.

And she absolutely adores toys. She carries them around like passifiers. So cute.

Amazing this little girl has become so trusting after all she’s been through.

🍪 Cookie is such a sweet girl. She just needs a foster home so she can make transport so she can find a family who will love and support her and never abandon and mistreat her again.

Shepherd Mama, Who Faced A Hurricane with 13 Babies, Is Enjoying Quieter Days at Rescue Sanctuary Southern Pup

Sweet Hurricane Mama is non reactive with all the dogs here. Even though she hasn’t come in contact with them to protect her pups, she pays them no mind, even though they are very interested in her. She goes right to pottying when we step out into her private yard. I hope she finds the best family as soon as she’s finished her commitment to her little eight survivors.

✨💙 CHRISTIAN 🙏🏻🥹 The sweet stray who sat on the side of Main Street watching and waiting as we headed home from church…. He is such a tender heart, asking for more pets.

Hurricane Mama’s Eight are two weeks old. She has one little boy surrounded by seven sisters. 🥹

On our way home from church Sunday evening, I saw a black spot in the distance on Main Street.

“Is that a dog?” I asked Jeff, hoping it was not.

“Possibly,” he said. “Do you want to close your eyes?”

“You know I can’t,” I said, sighing.

As we crossed the bridge, he still sat there, traffic passing by both ways.

He watched our truck pull over to the left and park.

He watched me get out and walk toward him.

Three minutes of walking and conversing with him and he was in my arms headed to Southern Pup.

I tell myself every day, and I tell others on bad days, I’m going to have to close my eyes. I can’t bring in another one. But when I am face to face in this human animal gaze, I am drawn in to a spiritual tête-à-tête that takes over all my senses and any other thoughts of time and space.

Some call it a drug, an addiction, because I can’t say no to the need right in front of me.

Whatever the catalyst, this 8-9 month old precious 30 pound boy is CHRISTIAN, and he needs a home.

🙏🏻 PLEASE SHARE Christian’s Story to help raise awareness and to help him find his family.

A Dumped Nursing Shepherd Braces for Hurricane Isaias

While the South was bracing for Hurricane Isaias last week, this Mama Shepherd, who was believed to be pregnant and dumped a couple weeks before, gave birth to 13 pups outside in the elements. A concerned woman found them and relocated them to her porch with blankets, but due to her rental agreement, she could not bring them inside. Five of the thirteen died as Mama tried to keep them all warm. Jeanette picked them up and held them until I could get back to town. What else could we do when a poor Mama is doing all she can to keep herself and her new family alive just a couple miles from Southern Pup? Mama is the sweetest. Please stay tuned for more of their story.
