Every cat parent knows the struggle of finding a birthday card that actually gets it. Not just a generic paw print slapped on cardstock — but something that really captures who their cat is.

That's exactly what went into this one.

This handmade cat birthday card starts with a laser die-cut cat silhouette, raised up off the card with foam adhesive so it has real dimension you can feel. Then I added a little handmade confetti party hat — complete with a gem topper — because every cat deserves a proper celebration, even if they refuse to wear the hat in real life.

You can choose from 25 cat colors (yes, 25 — from Classic White and Sleek Black to Storm Blue and Mandarin great for those orange kitties, so you can actually match the birthday kitty). The base is recycled 80 lb kraft brown cardstock with a matching kraft envelope, and the card comes in A2 size (4.25 x 5.5 in).

Around 15 years ago I was hauling boxes of handmade cards to craft shows and hoping for the best. I had no idea where this little business was going. Honestly, I don't think I could have guessed.
It started in 2010 with generic handmade cards sold at local events and markets. Eventually I opened an Etsy shop, which felt like a big deal at the time. Then one day I made a simple cat and dog card — just to see what would happen.
It took off.
That one little pet card opened up a whole world for me. I started creating variations, then more breeds, then more colors. One summer I sat down and designed over 200 dog breeds, organized them, and built them into a full line. An entire summer. Worth every minute of it.
My love for animals has always been at the center of what I do. I foster cats for my local humane society, and I think that genuine connection to animals is something people feel in the cards. It's not just a product. It's a little piece of something I actually care about.
Over time I moved away from in-person sales and went fully online — Etsy, my own website, and Amazon. Amazon now makes up over 80% of my sales, most of it through Prime. Wild to think about when I remember those early craft show days.
But here's something new. After years of shows, samples, returns, and overstock, I have a beautiful collection of cards that deserve a good home. Most people wouldn't even notice the "imperfections." So I'm opening a mini shop right in my garage in Benson, MN — a real, come-find-me place to grab some great deals on cards that still have so much love in them.
And I'm not stopping there. I've been experimenting with print on demand too, expanding into pet lover products like blankets and t-shirts.
Fifteen years. 200+ dog breeds. A mini shop. It's been quite a ride, and I'm just getting started.

Hi, I'm Jackie — Director of Card Creation and the entire team here at Embellish by Jackie. Yes, just me. I'm coming to you from Benson, MN, where I've been making things with my hands pretty much my entire life.

I've always believed the mailbox is a magical transportation device. Six days a week it can deliver something that makes someone's whole day — and I built this business so more people get to experience that feeling through Greeting Cards.

Every card I make is handcrafted with 3D laser die-cut paper details that turn a simple greeting into something you actually want to keep. My specialty? Dogs. 200+ breeds, to be exact. (Plus cats, holiday designs, dental cards and a whole lot more.)

Here's why animals ended up at the heart of everything I make: I'm a lifelong animal lover. In my spare time I foster cats for my local humane society, which means my home is regularly full of tiny creatures who have no idea how much they're inspiring my next batch of cards. When you love animals the way I do, it's impossible not to make them the star of the show.

Greeting Card Mini Shop Opening Tomorrow! 8am-8pm, weather permitting (will close if it rains and re-open when it stops)
Address: 614 10th St N, Benson. In Garage behind the bright blue house with yellow door, go thru alley extending off Bernhart Ave.
I have a selection of Everyday Cards; Birthday, Baby, Anniversary, Thank You, Get Well, etc. Cute tooth cards for anyone in the dental profession. Lots of Cat, Dog and Dog Breed Specific Cards! If you are interested in a specific breed, please comment the breed and I will see what I have (my space is a bit limited so I won’t have everything out). Also, some Cupcake Toppers and fishing themed earrings.
Lots of Single Cards, lots of $1 cards. A good amount of 10 packs of cards, great to have on hand! Most things are discounted.
Cash/Check/Venmo accepted. Tax is included in Price. All cards are labeled on the back with all the details you should need to know. Shop will be mostly self serve, but I will be around if you have any questions! I also have a comment book, please let me know if there is a card type you are looking for as I will be adding more.
Will be open Sunday as well. I’m looking at being open once a month, likely before the larger card holidays. If you are not able to stop by or looking for a card in the meantime, feel free to message me and I’m happy to open up when it’s convenient for you.
