UPDATE! Our prayers were answered! Molly does not have a liver shunt, she has pancreatic insufficiency.. which is treatable with enzyme replacement and diet so she should be adding the pounds soon!

“Molly” was found on Monkey Island in Center Point after the flood. She was emaciated, and begging for help. She came to Kerr County Animal Services, and we placed her with a medical foster. Now, weeks later, she has not gained weight but is regaining her trust of people. She is being evaluated for a possible liver shunt condition, and we are praying that diet solves her issues, but she may need surgery to fix the shunt so that her body can absorb nutrients. This was most likely a congenital condition. We need your prayers for Molly, her veterinary team and her medical foster who is doing everything possible to save her.

We would like to share a bittersweet ending for a precious dog named "Goldie" who was lost in the flood while her family was trying to evacuate. She was found by a SAR team 14 days after that night, and we were notified and her remains were retrieved. Luckily, she had a chip and the family was notified immediately that she had been found. She is being cremated and returned to them at no cost. We are grieving with every family, as we get to know them, hear their stories and we will spare no effort to find their lost pet family members. This is just one of many stories, and every one of them matters to each and every one of us at Kerrville Pets Alive.

With SO much misinformation being spread regarding the pets lost and found during the flood, we want everyone to know that with the guidance and help of Austin Pets Alive!, KPA has spent long hours for days building a database of over 143 pets which we are working very hard to match with owners. We are working with searchers and volunteers to retrieve deceased pets and we are fostering many found pets. We have made a great effort and are working with Town and Country Animal hospital to forensically identify the deceased and also cataloging those we cannot identify due to decomposition. Those who would like our database to be published, must understand that there is private information in the database, and we cannot publish it for their privacy. We know everyone is desperate to find their pets and also help others look for them. KPA and Kerr County Animal Services are not holding any pets that have not been matched with the database. All animals in our care and the county's custody have been researched extensively.

We are working 16 hour days on this task, and sadly, trying to correct misinformation takes us away from our duty to these grieving owners. Please understand that NO KERR COUNTY FLOOD PETS HAVE LEFT THE AREA. NO FLOOD PETS HAVE BEEN EUTHANIZED. People are assuming photos that are being shared all over the web come from Kerr County, and are spreading erroneous information. Please contact KPA if you have questions or concerns. ATTENTION regarding any pets found in or near the river in the Kerr County area…

KPA is recovering and documenting all cats and dogs found in or by the river even if they have perished. Some of them have microchips and their owners are still looking for them.

Please do not bury any cats or dogs. Contact us with the location 830.200.0539. We have a database of lost and found pets. Some families need closure.
