I love when Texas gives us a break from its normal summer heat! Aloe is the last of the hoglets from our recent litters. He got to go out and play yesterday evening, and threw a tiny hedgehog tantrum when it was time to come inside. He's got so much personality. He doesn't like meeting new people all the time, but he likes being with his people. Aloe isn't overly energetic either; sometimes he wants to play, and sometimes he wants to just be and cuddle over a movie. He's a lot like his maternal grandfather, Tesla, from Kelly's Quills.

When directly supervised, we enjoy setting up a small playpen with a few toys and letting the gang have time during acceptable weather. Always keep an eye on them, as they're quicker than you think.

Please be careful when taking your hedgehog out into the yard! Our yard is not sprayed with chemicals or pesticides. Not even I was wearing any mosquito sprays or chemicals.

Our Christmas hoglets are on our website!

Thank you for an amazing 2023, y'all! However, Happy Hogs has been slowly pulling back from breeding hedgehogs throughout the year. We currently only have a few in our breeding program so litters will become fewer through 2024 as our hedgehogs slowly continue to retire. This upcoming year will be our last year.

It's been a very difficult decision. Our hedgehogs were always our loved pets before anything else. Striving to continue healthy, happy hedgehogs through selective breeding and extensive pedigrees is a passion, while sharing this species with other families is heart-warming. Every milestone for our hedgehogs and their families will forever be a bittersweet memory that I'll carry for the rest of my life. It's difficult to put into words.

We will continue to be here to support all of our hedgehogs throughout their entire life. Owners will always able to email us.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day! We took the new hoglets outside to experience new textures and sounds since we finally didn't have rain. 🥰 It was a wonderful evening with family and just loving what we have today because of those who have fought for us. Thank you for all those who have served and what they have accomplished. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten, but forever appreciated.

So excited about the new litters that have arrived! So many dark babies this round! They're just over a week old now and we can begin socializing. They will begin weaning around June 9th.

While most mother hedgehogs do not like their nest disturbed and want their space, this specific mother does not mind. She pops up to greet us, let's us say hello, and shows no signs of stress or anger. It is not recommended to disturb them at first, and we usually don't. So it's really neat when we have that rare mom that will let us share photos like this with you.

Our new babies have been posted! Thank you for your patience. The holidays are keeping me very busy, so I have been a little behind. In two weeks we have a few more litters weaning and getting photos; they'll be weaned and ready before Christmas as well. www.HappyHogs.net is where you can email me, view photos, and more.

As always, these little guys have been so much fun. Mickie James (AKA Noodle) gave us a litter where we have Roman and Ezekiel; both playful. Roman has never-ending energy and wants to explore the world. Ezekiel has the same energy but when his reserves run out, he turns into a 'cuddle and naptime' hedgehog. They'll be great around families with children when properly supervised.

Harpy gave us a litter that consists of Griffin, Basilisk, Siren, and Phoenix. Griffin, Basilisk, and Siren are sweet as honey and love to play. Phoenix is a calmer, gentle soul that just wants to be held and loved. Phoenix isn't as much for the high-energy situations. Movies and chill time is definitely more Phoenix's area of specialty.

Megami gave us a litter of a few kiddos who have found their homes, but Kuriboh is still available. Like Phoenix, Kuriboh wants to be loved and just hung out with. Both may be spooked by settings with younger children, loud sounds, and lots of traffic. They aren't exactly shy, but just don't prefer those situations.
