Friday updates:
Here goes. First of all thank you for all the prayers and support for Cody. After 5 days, she’s finally started to turn a corner. We’ve gone outside the box a bit trying different and unconventional things, but it looks like it’s working. She’s not out of the woods and still on an every three hour schedule but I’m optimistic. ❤️🙏🏼🐴
Ranch updates: we are doing some tractor work, as well arena and pen/stall renovations throughout the rest of the month. So give me a call/text if you’re coming to visit, so I can tell you where to park.
Hay and feed: it’s a rough year for ranchers, due to the drought. We are getting first cutting alfalfa next week. We still have alfalfa on hand, as well as grass hay. However we are supplementing with cubes and hay pellets as needed. Our pasture is lacking due to no rain, so we are using other alternatives. If you see some random bags of extra forage around, that’s why. Especially at our lunch time feedings.
Visitors: please do not feed any horses other than your own. We currently have horses here recovering from surgeries, horses under veterinary care, and horses on a refeed program, as well as some with metabolic diseases. Some have special diets, and some are on RX medications. We appreciate your kindness but please only feed your own horse.
Summer temps are here so we dump water buckets more often and try to let them go down before we clean them. Please don’t fill any when you’re here without chatting with us first.
With summer temps come summer bugs, we will often put fly masks and fly masks on horses who need extra protection.
I’m working on my summer drawing for free training and will post the details soon.
