Where are my fresh greens lovers??

You are in luck tomorrow! I am coming locked and loaded with all the fresh ORGANIC greens! Whether you're looking for a spring salad mix to elevate your dinner party salad, arugula to spice up you panini or pizza (or however you sick arugula lovers like it), or a bag of super food mixed greens..I got you covered!

Oh, did I mention I am bringing ALLLLLLLLLl the microgreens tomorrow, too? Pea shoots, sunflower shoots along with three salad blends: regular, spicy, x-tra spicy!

The rain is looking to be fairly cooperative, but I am scaling down the set up so I can jet out if the skies open...or when I sell out!

P.S. this week's super food mixed greens contain: two kales, rainbow chard and spinach. All organically grown right here in Beechmont.

Story Time:
How I settled on the name Eagle Allen Micro Farm.

Well, the micro part is easy. I started with the plan to sell microgreens. Then decided there may not be quite the demand for that in the southend just yet, so expanded to nutrient dense greens and organic salad mixes. I grow everything on my small Beechmont lot of land, where I live, which is less than 1/3 acre. So Micro still fits. Proof you don't need a lot of land to grow healthy food for you and your family.

Now the Eagle Allen. That's an interesting name, since mine is Donald, isn't it?

Many small, family-owned businesses like to pay homage to their lineage and ancestry in their business name. This is no exception here. The Eagle and Allen represent both sides of my family in different generations. My maternal grandfather's middle name was Eagle and my dad's middle name was Allen. I combined the two to honor the past two generations of men in my lineage, men that make me proud.

So there you have it, Eagle Allen Micro Farm. Welcome to the family.

wow! Y'all kept us so busy at the market yesterday (well ,until the sky decided to just open up on us). It was great to see so many returning friends and meet even more new friends.

Many of you asked for some ways to incorporate microgreens. I put together this little image for some really easy ways to get microgreens into your regular diet. There are SO many more, and I'd love to hear what ways you are using them.

So excited for the opening day of the South End Community Market tomorrow in Iroquois Park! This is a rain or shine event, although lightening could close, delay, or pause the market.

I have your favorite microgreens: Spicy and X-tra Spicy plus I will have sunflower shoots and pea shoots this year. I will also be cutting them on site to order to ensure maximum freshness.

For your health and wellness journey, in addition to the microgreens I will have:
Spring Salad mix (full size bag or half size containers)
Super Food Greens Blend (blend of kales, chard, mustard greens)

For your culinary delight I will have fresh cut herbs:
Oregano
Cilantro
Sage
Chives
Lemon Thyme

And remember at Eagle Allen your produce is always fresh, always harsh chemical free, always organically and gently grown (i.e. I take into consideration the Earth, from which our food comes).

I don't know about ALLLLLLLL that, bt what I do know is that I purchase organic seeds, organic growing medium, and I grow as organically as possible. I have no desire to scale up to crank out the microgreens as a machine operation. I grow limited quantity each week to ensure maximum quality. Sometimes a tray or two isn't great, and so they go to the chickens. Like any crop, though, there may be some slight variations from week to week--sometimes they'll grow a little faster so they're taller, some weeks they grow slower so they're shorter. Some weeks the seeds just don't root like they did the week before so I have less available.

This week's crop is looking DIVINE, though. I will have:
Spicy blend
Extra Spicy blend
Sunflower shoots
Pea shoots

I just ate some pea shoots from Saturday (yes, they are still that fresh!) atop a slice of veggie quiche and y'all...

all imma say is come early, stock up, feel good.

My goodness, y'all kept us so busy at yesterday's Festival of Flowers, hosted by the Beechmont Neighborhood Association, I didn't even get to post a pic or what was available!

So much gratitude for the BNA and the FoF committee for coordinating and so many great community members coming out on a gorgeous day.

Next up: the opening bell for the South End Community Market rings at 8:30 this coming Saturday in Louisville's BEST park--Iroquois Park!

I will have:
Spring salad mix
Super Food Blend
Microgreens (four variety!)
Fresh cut herbs
Potted herbs to grow at home

At this time, due to some changes at the state level with the Dept. of Agriculture, I will not have baked goods (should have this remedied by fall for Apple Dumplings though!)
