Dog Blog USA Walking coast to coast for Pet Therapy and Animal Rescue We are Kait and John Seyal, and our dogs are Max and Grace. Thank you!

On March 1st, 2012, we began walking from the Atlantic Coast in Lewes, Delaware. With our therapy-certified dogs, Max and Grace, we will walk over 3,000 miles to San Francisco, California. We walk to promote pet therapy, animal rescue, and the benefits that a fulfilling relationship with animals can have on our lives. 10 years ago today, we stepped into the Pacific Ocean and brought our transcontinental pilgrimage to a close. We are eternally grateful to everyone who supported us on that journey and made it possible. We owe so much to our human family.

We really found ourselves out there - strong and confident and fearless. We learned so much about ourselves and each other, and the world we live in. It's an experience that we carry with us every day. We bask in the memories of the simplicity and synchronicity; the call of the road stretched out before us; the shifting kaleidoscope of clouds and sky; the endless horizon, ever receding; hot mid-day naps under the shade of a single tree; the smell of sagebrush on the warm wind; our dogs, always exploring and discovering and deepening our connection to the land, the journey, the people; and of course, our dearest Jenny. That magical dog taught us more about ourselves than we realized until she was gone (she passed earlier this year.)

10 years ago we gave ourselves a challenge to overcome; and not only did we complete it - we thrived while doing so. We look at our day-to-day lives now raising our kid and keeping the lights on, and we feel a bit domesticated. But parenthood gives us new and exciting challenges every day! It's never boring, that's for sure. She helps us see the world with a fresh perspective. On the best days, childlike wonder takes over again. When times are hard, we remember that we are the sum of everyone we have ever been, and the wild courage we felt on the road still dwells within us. Doing hard things is worthwhile - especially if you can make them fun.

10 Years ago today, we stood with our backs to the Atlantic Ocean and took the first steps of our coast-to-coast walk. That year will forever be one of the most vibrant, challenging, and inspiring chapters of our lives. 10 years on, we are now parents and professionals, living a reasonably domesticated life; but the wanderlust has never left us. On this day, we remember all of the incredible people who supported this project; the friends we made along the way; our dear old Grace, no longer with us but forever in our hearts; the smell of warm sagebrush on the wind; the ephemeral beauty of a life on the road. Thank you for joining us all those years ago. We hope wherever your trail has taken you, you're taking time to soak up the beauty of this world.

Ready for a WALK down memory lane? Here is ALL of the video footage we shot during our transcontinental walk in 2012! It's VERY rough and un-edited (and the audio is missing) but we recently recovered it off an old hard drive and wanted to share it with you. Click around through the vid and see what memories you can find! Thanks again to everyone who supported us and helped this project come to life all those years ago.

Raw, mostly un-edited footage from our 3200-mile walk from Lewes, DE to Long Beach, CA in 2012. This footage was used as part of our art installation, TRANSC...

Some of you may remember Camelot Puppy Sanctuary - where our journey truly started almost 10 years ago when I adopted Grace in the summer of 2007. John adopted Max from here 2 years later. They've done so much for us over the years and now they could use a bit of help from anyone who is able to donate or share this post. I'll bet our Dog Walk Across America family still has some love to give!!! Thank you all.

"On April 21st our 350 ft. water well collapsed. I called my neighbor of 40 years, Keith, who is also the best "Well Man" in our small rural county. He sent a crew and after hours of trying they could not extract the old pump and delivered their diagnosis: They had to drill a new well. I did not...

After running an average of 72 miles for 42 days, Pete Kostelnick made it to New York City on Monday. In doing so, he broke the record for the fastest run across the country, an undertaking that has fascinated Americans for over a century.
