One thing we pay close attention to when developing working dogs is equipment fixation.

We want the dog committed to the task—not the equipment.

Whether we’re working obedience, detection, apprehension, or another discipline, the equipment should support the training without becoming the reason the dog performs. A well-developed dog should understand the behavior and remain confident and committed even when the picture changes.
