🐾 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT — The Story Behind Bark Buddies 🐾
Bark Buddies was created by Emily Sitton for one simple reason: to help animals that don’t have a voice.
Emily previously assisted with the John Cotton Memorial Animal Shelter page, working to support the animals and increase adoptions. However, due to city restrictions on what could and could not be posted or done through the official page, her ability to help was limited. Rather than walk away from the animals, she chose to create a new path forward — and Bark Buddies was born.
Emily later teamed up with Heather, and together they began working behind the scenes to network animals at John Cotton with rescues, fosters, and shelters in hopes of giving them a second chances and preventing euthanasia whenever possible.
A few months ago, Emily and Heather did everything they could to stop the euthanasia of a dog at the shelter. Despite their efforts, their concerns were not acted upon. That moment reinforced why Bark Buddies needed to exist — independent advocacy for the animals.
Today, Bark Buddies continues to work toward:
🐶 Connecting animals with rescues and safe placements
🐱 Raising awareness for adoptable pets
🐾 Supporting community members who want to help
📢 Advocating for policies that protect animals
Emily is also actively pushing for ordinance changes that will better protect animals in our community — and she is doing this work before ever holding public office, simply because she cares.
Bark Buddies is not about politics.
It is about compassion, action, and giving animals a chance.
If you want to help, foster, adopt, donate, or share posts — you are part of this mission.
Together, we can make a difference. 🐾❤️
