💔🐰 BUNNY FUFU & KIWI: A LOVE STORY THAT DESERVES A HAPPY ENDING 🐰💔

We are heartbroken.

Back in October 2025, a family reached out to us after purchasing a tiny baby bunny from a breeder. Bunny FuFu was only 5 weeks old when they brought her home. Just three weeks later, they contacted Bunny World Foundation for grooming and bunny care advice.

The following month, they attended one of our bunny care workshops and adopted our sweet boy Kiwi.

Kiwi's story had already begun with hardship. He was rescued by Bunny World Foundation from North Central Animal Shelter in Los Angeles, where he was waiting for someone to give him a second chance at life. ❤️

Little did we know that his greatest adventure was about to begin.

FuFu and Kiwi went on a "bunnymoon" and instantly fell in love. 💕

They became inseparable.

They groomed one another, cuddled together, flopped side-by-side, and found comfort and happiness in each other's company. Watching them together was everything we hope for when we place rabbits into loving homes.

Then, in February, we received a heartbreaking message from the family:

"My daughter has been breaking out in hives for the past six weeks and last night was the most severe. She has been keeping this from me through late December and early January because she desperately wanted to keep her bunnies. However, after seeing her last night, we have no option but to rehome them. She is missing school due to the severity of her allergic reaction."

Of course, we understood. Health comes first.

But then came the part that left us speechless.

"I wanted to arrange a time with you to bring you Kiwi. The breeder has rights to Bunny FuFu. She will be going back this Friday."

💔💔💔

Not only had the commitment to spay Bunny FuFu never been honored, but they were prepared to separate a deeply bonded pair and send FuFu back to the breeder.

Back to a life where she would likely be bred over and over again.

Back to losing the bunny she loved.

Back to losing the life she knew.

We couldn't let that happen.

So we took them both.

And of course, Bunny FuFu is now safely spayed. ❤️

Today, they are still together.

Kiwi survived the shelter system.

FuFu escaped a future as a breeding rabbit.

Together, they found love.

They are affectionate, playful, curious, and completely devoted to one another. Through all the uncertainty and change, they never stopped loving each other.

Now they need the one thing we cannot give them:

🏡 A forever home.

A family that will cherish them.
A family that understands that bonded bunnies belong together.
A family that will never separate them.

Forgive our recent silence. Between six Mega-Adoption Events in April, multiple events in May, and an overwhelming wave of post-Easter rescues, our volunteers have barely had a chance to catch their breath.

💔 In just the last 60 days, BWF has rescued 58 rabbits — many abandoned, neglected, injured, or requiring extensive medical care and rehabilitation. It's been exhausting. It's been heartbreaking. And it's been worth every single moment. ❤️

As we hop toward our 18th Anniversary, we're excited to announce our June Adoption Events and invite you to meet some of the incredible rabbits whose lives have been transformed through rescue.

As a new year dawns here in Los Angeles, we welcome the morning with full hearts and deep gratitude ✨
The light is rising, a fresh chapter is opening, and with it comes reflection, hope, and renewed purpose 🌞💫

This year marks 18 years of rescue for Bunny World Foundation — 18 years of choosing compassion, persistence, and love, even when the path is difficult 💖🐇

🌟 2025 began with a BANG — wildfires, emergencies, heartbreak — and yet, together, we saved over 1,000 precious lives once again ✨
This extraordinary work was only possible because of you 🙏

Because of our incredible community of VOLUNTEERS, FOSTERS, TRANSPORTERS, VETERINARIANS, and DONORS, so many vulnerable bunnies are starting this year safe, protected, and loved 🐰💫
Wrapped in care. Given second chances. Ready for new beginnings.

As we step into 2026, we renew our promise 🌱
to keep fighting the good fight,
to show up when it’s hard,
and to protect those who cannot speak for themselves 🤍🕊️

💔 The final weeks of the year were especially challenging.
Many bunnies were on death row. The need was urgent and unrelenting.
We rescued through Christmas… through New Year’s Eve… choosing the most vulnerable, every single time 🐇🕯️

And still, even in the midst of it all, we made space for joy ✨
We hosted three adoption events and grooming workshops in Pasadena, Hancock Park, and Torrance — and because of that, many bunnies welcomed the new year in loving homes 🏡🐰🎉

Because the demands were so high, we weren’t able to fully fundraise at the end of the year.

From terror in the park to safety and love — meet the miracle sisters of Pasadena 💕
🌸🐰 THE MIRACLE SISTERS OF PASADENA — ELENA & YELENA 🐰🌸
This story could have ended in tragedy. But thanks to love, teamwork, and a bit of magic… two terrified little souls got their second chance. 💔✨
Last week, two bunnies were found abandoned at the Pasadena Aquatic Center — scared, shaking, and huddled together in the grass. A kind Samaritan found them just in time, knowing that one more night alone in the park could have meant the end.
She couldn’t keep them herself but refused to walk away. Sadly, Pasadena Humane refused to take them, claiming they needed a 10-day quarantine. These girls needed help that night.
We posted their plea in our private rescue group, and the clock started ticking. No foster, no safe place… until our community rallied. 💞
We rushed to get them safe. We named them Yelena (the snow-white mini lop) and Elena (the harlequin mini lop) — two names as inseparable as the girls themselves. When we first met them, they were frozen with fear, pressed into each other, their hearts racing. But their story was about to change.
🏥 We got them to our trusted vet right away — both girls were spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and defleaed. Sweet Yelena had a painful eye infection that’s now fully healed. At our adoption event in Hancock Park last Sunday, they were brushed, pampered, and comforted by our wonderful volunteers who whispered to them, “You’re safe now.”
💖 A generous donor stepped up to cover 10 days of boarding so they could recover and rest. They’re safe — for now — until October 12.
After that… they have nowhere to go.
They’ve been through enough heartbreak for a lifetime. We want the next chapter of their story to be filled with love, safety, and a forever home. 🏡
✨ Yelena & Elena are now fully ready for adoption!

✅ Vaccinated
✅ Dewormed
✅ Defleaed
✅ Groomed
✅ Healthy and oh-so-gorgeous
They’re gentle, curious, and so bonded — you can see the love between them in every little nuzzle. Whoever opens their home to them will have not just pets, but living proof that miracles happen when compassion wins. 💫
📅 They’ll be attending our Pasadena Adoption Event on October 12, and we have a feeling they’ll be adopted like cupcakes. 🧁

💔 FOSTERS NEEDED IN LOS ANGELES! 💔
Where are you, beautiful souls of L.A.?
We are begging — hands clasped, hearts shattered — for foster homes. Every day, bunnies are dumped, abandoned, and discarded like trash. Every day, we say “yes” when we can… but we’re drowning. We cannot say yes unless someone opens their heart and home.
🏡 Fostering saves lives. It’s the bridge between death and a second chance. Without fosters, we cannot rescue. We cannot act. We are frozen while the clock runs out on innocent lives.
We know times are hard. But imagine how much harder it is for the bunny stuck in a tiny cage, dumped in a park, or waiting behind a shelter wall, trembling in silence. You don’t need to be a hero — just a little space, a little time, and a lot of love.
✨ We provide equipment, support, and medical care. You provide a safe space, food, and brushing!
So many bunnies have nowhere to go. Please... if you've ever thought of fostering, now is the time. Let’s not let another life slip away because there was nowhere to go.
