MEET MAYRA!

Mayra's journey began at Devore Animal Shelter in mid-June 2024, where she found herself at risk simply for having a cold. At around one year old at the time, this young tortoiseshell girl had already known instability, and her full, round figure initially led to speculation that she might be pregnant--though it turned out she's simply a naturally full-figured beauty. Rescued just in time, Mayra recovered in a temporary California foster home before making the big trip north. By the end of June 2024, she arrived safely in Washington, where she has been thriving ever since with her long-term foster mom.

Gentle, confident, and quietly charismatic, Mayra is as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. True to her tortie nature, she isn't shy about asking for affection and happily makes herself known when it's time for attention. In her foster home, she's become an ambassador of goodwill--welcoming new foster cats with calm kindness and helping them feel at ease. Once everyone is settled, Mayra is ready for whatever the moment brings, whether that's cozy snuggles, playful antics, or simply being near her people. MEET KYLO REN!

Kylo Ren's journey began in true hero-in-the-making fashion: a tiny underdog facing impossible odds. He was surrendered to Devore Animal Shelter in September 2025 at just 4 weeks old -- far too young to survive on his own. In years past, kittens under 8 weeks without mothers were automatically euthanized, but today the shelter calls on rescue partners like Kitty Devore Rescue when their own fosters are full and gives us until day's end to intervene. For Kylo, that lifeline opened the door to a whole new galaxy. A temporary foster stepped up instantly to guide him through his vulnerable neonatal stage, and when he was nearly three months old and strong enough to join a star system of his own, a long-term foster family welcomed him in. It was his foster mom's husband -- an avid Star Wars fan -- who looked at this tiny, dark-furred apprentice and christened him Kylo Ren.

Despite the fearsome Sith-Lord name, Kylo Ren's heart is firmly on the Light Side. This sleek little panther is all warmth, purrs, and devotion. His favorite place in the universe is anywhere he can curl up against you -- chest, arms, lap, or shoulder -- becoming your personal pocket-sized co-pilot. MEET STAN THE MAN!

Stanny's story begins in July 2014, when he was pulled from Devore Shelter at just three months old--truly in the nick of time. Once restored to health, he traveled to Seattle later that year and was adopted by a young man new to the city. Renamed Stan, he and his person shared a deep bond for years until a major change in their living situation brought new people and two younger cats into the home. Sensitive and loyal, Stan struggled with the sudden shift and, unable to adapt, was returned to us last year at ten years old. True to our motto, "Once a Kitty Devore cat, always a Kitty Devore cat," we welcomed him back with open arms.

After a short adjustment period, Stan has flourished in foster care. He's an affectionate, talkative, and super playful boy who loves human companionship and enjoys being part of a person's daily routine. While he prefers people to other pets, he has gotten along well with his foster siblings with proper introductions. He can be a little particular about food, but he eats enough to keep his long, lanky frame in good shape. His health is excellent and well documented. Stan knows his name, comes when called, responds to a finger snap, and shows his affection through enthusiastic head-bumps and happy tummy-kneading when he's truly content.

MEET SONOMA!

Sonoma was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in November 2024 when he was just a month old, along with his mom, Fontana, and siblings Concord, Darlington, and Daytona. Too young to remember anything but love and safety, he grew up in a devoted foster home as part of the "NASCAR family," where he blossomed into a bright, affectionate, and playful kitten.

Sonoma is a joyful little character with a heart full of affection and a flair for fun. He adores chin scratches, responds with enthusiastic purrs, and is always in the mood for a game—especially if it involves crinkle chutes, cardboard boxes, or his prized crunch balls. MEET DARLINGTON aka MR. WOBBLES!

Darlington was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in November 2024, just a month old at the time, along with his mom, Fontana, and siblings Concord, Sonoma, and Daytona. Too young to remember the shelter, Darlington has only known the warmth and love of his foster home, where he and his "NASCAR family" have grown up safe, healthy, and cherished.

Concord was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in November 2024, along with her mom, Fontana, and siblings Daytona, Sonoma, and Darlington. Daytona, along with her mom Fontana and siblings Concord, Sonoma, and Darlington, was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in November 2024 when she was just a month old. MEET RUSTIE!

Rustie was surrendered to Kitty Devore Rescue at the tail end of February 2025 at the age of just three months by a kind soul who found him abandoned just outside of their home. We secured him a long-term foster home, and being a young kitten, he settled in quickly and adapted easily to his new indoor-life routine.

As a kitten, Rustie has an abundance of energy. He loves to wrestle with other kitties, chase string toys, and even play some fetch with plush mice! Don't let his high energy levels fool you, though; Rustie is a snuggler through and through. He loves receiving pets and curling up with his humans on the sofa while they watch TV. MEET FONTANA, A WONDERFUL KITTY THROUGH AND THROUGH!

Love, love, love! That's all this kitty wants!

We rescued Fontana and her young litter of kittens from Devore Shelter in November 2024 (Momma Susan, for our followers), when shelter staff estimated her to be approximately 1 year old. Admitted as a stray, we determined she'd already been through a lot in her young life. However, we were struck by her unconditional kindness and willingness to seek out and give affection in return. Still, another two months would elapse before we observed her feeling settled and secure enough to sleep on the cat trees and cushy kitty beds or even play with toys. Now, she's dropped her guard completely and plays freely with her toys, luxuriates in naps, and surveying at the tippy-top of her favorite cat tree.

Fontana loves people. Chin scratches and gentle hugs keep her returning for more from her foster family. Although technically a very young adult, she hasn't lost her kitten exuberance. Zooming through kitty tunnels, batting crunch balls, leaping with glee for the rainbow cat dancer, and back-kicking her all-time favorite, a little plush pickle toy, shows off her athleticism and agility but also demonstrates her trust that it's safe now to drop her guard and let her true spirit shine through. Through it all, she's been an amazingly attentive momma, caring diligently for her kittens and, now that they're older, confirming for them that life can be joyful.

MEET ECLYPSE!

Impossible to ignore, he's full of awe-inspiring energy, much like the solar and lunar celestial events. He and his siblings were born in a warehouse in Anaheim and brought into foster care at just two days old. Their mother, Nova—who also gave birth to KD fosters Wacko & Dot—had eluded the traps for too long. Once rescuers finally caught her, she stayed with her newest babies until they were old enough to be independent. Then, she underwent her spay and vaccinations before returning to her colony.

From the start, Eclypse jostled his way through to get the best nursing spot. Not only was he a momma's boy, but also a greedy little milk hog. He eclipsed his siblings by emerging as the feistiest and fattest of the litter. However, when introduced to wet food, he lagged through the transition. Still, it didn't take him long to catch up, and he's never missed a meal since. Full of mischief and always up for fun, Eclypse loves to jump, roughhouse, and play fetch, although he's not the best at retrieving and returns. His half-brother and best buddy, Wacko, race one another to the apex of the cat trees, but when they're zoomed out, you can find them curled up together for a well-deserved nap.
