PSA

Responsible, ethical, reputable breeders ALWAYS take their dogs back. Period. Full stop.

There are many layers to this statement but it is and always will be the dividing wedge that separates the reputable from the irreputable.

Is it convenient? No. Is it easy? No. Is it cheap? No. But every breeder is responsible for the lives they bring into this world and taking them back is a non-negotiable. Responsible breeders do NOT contribute to dogs in rescues/shelters.

Breeders who are driven by income, will not take dogs back - it’s not profitable. Breeders who breed in volume (puppy mills) will not take dogs back - they simply cannot based on sheer numbers. Breeders who are lazy - will find an excuse as to why they can’t.

If there is ever one question to ask (and verify) of your breeder, it is do you require and will you always take a dog back?

Our Blue female (Lilah) is expected to come into heat in February, which means we’d plan to breed around that time, with puppies due in April and ready to go home around June 2026.

Before moving forward, I want to make sure there’s enough genuine interest in this pairing. To stay responsible and intentional, I will only proceed if at least 4 families place a retainer ahead of time to reserve their puppy.

This ensures every pup has a loving, committed home waiting before breeding even happens — and helps us provide the very best care and preparation for both mom and babies.
