Lux wasn't to sure about this show business. He was fairly calm but didn't relax into it so he kept his tail tight instead of fluffy and he didn't play. Most cats start at four months and show in the kitten class until eight months old. It can be harder for older kittens and adult cats when they start showing. Considering that, he did well.

If he or his siblings haven't placed by the next show, then I'll show one if he/she responds well to visiting friends and hanging out in the community. The more comfortable they are with new places and people, the better that will accept the show hall. 😀

Last Saturday a show queen was born.❤

Callie Rose went to her first show and decided it was great fun to get so much attention. She'd paw at the front of her show tent which brought over people eager to say hi and pet her. She contentedly held court in my arms and soaked up the attention. The venue was rather warm so I'd put her in the show tent to cool off and she would demand to be brought back out. 🤣

Only some kitties can start showing as adults. At four years old she could have easily been afraid and overwhelmed but I knew if she realized all the attention she could get, she'd be happy and she did better than I expected. More shows are in her future. 😀

I learned the show groom needed for reds is a little different than what I've done in the past so she was undergroomed compared to her competition. The competition was fierce with twelve wonderful Maine C**ns and sometimes other long haired cats and poly Maine C**ns which are shown separately except for the LH cat division. I was very proud she got a 3rd Best of Breed from Vickie Shields. 😀

I look forward to perfecting her show groom and showing her again in the Longmont show Oct. 31 & Nov. 1st.

Lux and Callie will be at the CO Springs show tomorrow if anyone wants to stop by. It will be the first show for both of them so they'll likely be a bit nervous. Come by to say hi and wish them well. 😀

Cat shows are a great way to see different breeds and to meet the breeders that love them.❤

Lux is a gorgeous red smoke boy. In his case the smoke gene is not expressed as strongly as others in my line. His red coat has lightened a lot and sometimes he looks like a cream even though he’s not. He has a very friendly temperament. He likes to lay near me for pets and will happily groom my hair as a sign of affection. He’s fine with being held but has started to prefer laying by me as he’s gotten bigger. He’s a very long boy and well proportioned. He loves toys and will try collect them; he’s sweet and will share he just wants whatever toy he sees. LOL

Latif is a very handsome black smoke boy that’s becoming more regal as he grows. He's a big chunk and still has a lot of growing to do but his heart is huge, with so much love to give. He loves cuddles and will happily lay on or near you to soak up being petted and snuggled. He’s also a hugger at times and is quite happy to be held. He’s is a pretty chill guy when not in play mode.

Lilika is a striking, lovely kitty with a regal air. She’s very friendly but not a lap kitty; she’ll approach for loves then lay down and observe. During cuddle time, she often thinks my arms should be a bit longer as I stretch to reach and pet her. She is the natural model of the litter which is nice for those that need to take “one more” photo of their kitty. LOL No judgement as I’m guilty too.

Lexine is a lovely, affectionate kitty. She’ll approach for loves, often wanting cuddles while other times she’s happy to lay by me and be petted. She’s curious, likes to play and is total sweetheart with a touch of independence. ❤

Leilani is a gorgeous and extremely loving girl. She wants lots of loves and snuggles and I absolutely adore her. 😍

She'll climb into my arms at every chance which makes pictures a challenge. I finally got some really good pictures of her which I'm thrilled to share. There is a cool sequence with her swishing her floofy tail that I put the the front of the reel.

Lainey is a lovely red smoke that's very sweet. She raises up her head and front legs to greet me as fast as possible. She likes to snuggle while also enjoying some personal space. She loves to play.

She's shed some of her longer hair since it's been hot; it will come back when it's cooler and possibly sooner since I've had to start using the AC.
