🐾 Heartworm Journey: From Positive to Negative — Now Ready for Their Forever Homes! 🐾

We wanted to share some incredible news about a few very special dogs in our rescue family. When they first arrived, they tested positive for heartworms, which meant they needed extra care and treatment to get healthy.

Thanks to dedicated foster families and medical support, these brave pups have completed their treatment and are now heartworm NEGATIVE! 🎉

What’s bittersweet about this journey is that these amazing dogs have been in foster care long enough to go from positive to negative (which can take 6-12 months) — but that also means it’s time for them to find their forever families who will give them the love and stability they deserve. 💖

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider giving one of these resilient dogs a chance to shine in a forever home. They’ve overcome so much, and now they’re ready to fill your life with joy, loyalty, and endless love.

💘 Seeking Silver Fox 💘

After a brief and disappointing fling, Teenie is back on the market — and this time she’s laying it all out: she’s into older men. 👴🏼 Like, really into them. Got grey hair? A favorite chair? A bedtime routine that starts before Jeopardy ends? She’s listening.

Teenie’s been with the rescue longer than expected, mostly because she’s a gal with standards. She’s not here for just anyone. She needs time, patience, and a human who understands that winning her heart is a slow burn — but once you’re in, you’re in. We’re talking full-time lap privileges, unconditional loyalty, and a snuggle game that could melt glaciers.

She was adopted recently but returned — not because of anything she did. She’s just not a “love at first sight” kind of girl. Think of her more like a crockpot meal — takes a little time, but totally worth it.

Her ideal match? Quiet home, gentle voice, probably own at least one cardigan. She’s not into chaos and loud noises, but if you enjoy slow walks, soft music, and the occasional shared snack, she might just be your soulmate.

Let’s find Teenie her forever lap. Bonus points if you’ve got salt-and-pepper hair and watch reruns of MASH*.

Meet Gus!! 🐶🐾

Somehow, this sweet boy has been with the rescue for almost a year… and we just can’t figure out why. Gus is an approximately 3-4 year-old black Lab mix with the calmest, kindest soul you’ll ever meet. He’s been overlooked time and time again at every adoption event, sometimes not even getting a pet 🥺 but we know his perfect family is out there somewhere!

Gus is literally the definition of a good boy👇
✅ Potty trained
✅ Kennel trained
✅ Walks like a pro on a leash with no pulling!
✅ Never jumps
✅ Gentle with kids
✅ Great with cats and other dogs

🛋️ When he’s not lounging on the couch or sunbathing on his back in the yard Gus loves to chew on a bone and just be your easygoing companion. He has amazing manners and the softest heart, truly one of the most chill, loving dogs you’ll meet.

Please come meet him TOMORROW at our event and give him some love. He truly deserves it!!

A little late in the day, but we are so grateful to all our veterinarians 🩺 from Texas to Iowa, that we have taken many animals to over the years!! We couldn’t do this without them!! 💜

💔Archer is back with us.

After a year in what was supposed to be his permanent home, he’s once again searching for the forever he thought he’d already found. Returns like this are never easy — not for the dog, not for the rescue, and not for the people who’ve followed their journey.

At ETHAP, our commitment to every dog doesn’t end when they’re adopted. We’re in it for life. If things don’t work out, we do everything we can to support our adopters and our dogs — and if needed, we welcome them back with open arms.

While returns are rare in the grand scheme of how many happy adoptions we see, they still take a toll. It’s confusing for the dog, and heartbreaking for everyone who’s been part of their rescue story. But we will always, always show up — because these dogs are family.

Now it’s Archer’s turn for a second chance at a true forever. Please share and help us find the home that will never let him go. 🐾

🚨URGENT: Dolly & Jolene need a dedicated Iowa foster by JULY 17TH to make it on the next transport! Their Texas foster is moving out of state!!‼️

🎶 Dolly & Jolene, Jolene, Joleeeene… we’re beggin’ ya darlin’ to give them a home! 🐾

These 5–6-month-old pups are lookin’ for their own Coat of Many Colors — or at least a warm couch in Iowa! 💕 Sweet as Tennessee Tea, full of puppy love, and ready to shine brighter than a Backwoods Barbie 🌟

Currently in Texas, but with a foster or adopter in Iowa, they’ll be Here You Come Again… straight into your heart! ❤️
