I can’t change who I was, I admit it!

I love being baker’s dozen, I love that it’s where I began, and it’s time to go back to that. I feel far more connected in that way.

I know I don’t post very often, but rest assured I’ve been breeding a TON in the background! I have very limited space, so I have had to be EXTREMELY selective, and it has made my progress that much quicker.

Currently, I am breeding:
Roan/merle
Angora
Abyssinian
Black eyed silver fox (BESF)
Pink eyed silver tan (PEST)
Recessive yellow

Which sounds like a lot, but it’s really not. Recessive yellow is by far my biggest project and where I have made the most progress, and I’m biased but it’s one of my favorites!

In the background, I am also a part of something else that’s being worked on that should be announced in a couple of weeks or so. When that happens I’ll share it here!

I appreciate everyone who has stuck around despite my inactivity and look forward to getting back to posting!

Thank you to Mel’s Neighborhood • Transport Routes, ETAs, & More! For getting my new babies to me safely! Mel is so positive and communicative, and these animals are in INCREDIBLE condition, especially after being on transport for 9 whole days! I will absolutely be utilizing Mel in the future ❤️

P.S. her prairie dog was a delight to say hello to. Might have to convince the partner to let me get one of those some day 😉

Yes, it’s true - I’ve changed locations, so I’m changing my name!

I will still be the me that you know, with the same commitment to health, care, and love above all else - but after being closed for so long, it’s time for a change.

I will have a new logo coming as well!

I have great news - I’m going to be starting up again! It will almost entirely be for me, with very little to sell, but I am so eager to get back to it after all that happened before!

Hi all my new followers!

Welcome to the BDM family.

I currently am not breeding due to a loss of all my mice, but I like knowing my community is still here and growing. I will be coming back soon… my friend over at Kiwi's Mighty Mousery has been breeding and taking care of some mice that I will be taking in and using to help me restart. I’m really looking forward to it.

Where is everyone coming from? I’ve never had engagement like this with my page and I’m super curious!!

Hello all, it is with a heavy heart that we at BDM must announce that due to an unfortunate and unforeseeable event, the mice and everything included has been lost. A flood took out Ryn's rodent room, leaving nothing left; A tragic loss that will need some time to be processed. We ask that you offer patience and understanding as Ryn recovers from such a traumatic loss, and should there be any updates, we'll be sure to keep you all posted. We are truly sorry this is not the news many if not any wanted to hear, but for now it is all that we can say. Thank you for being so understanding.

Hey folks!

I am doing an audit of my current inventory of breeding critters this week, hopefully today. I have reduced numbers and varieties significantly.

But this is a good thing!

I’ll be breeding again. I’ll be answering more messages, I’ll be updating my waitlist. I really look forward to getting back into it with everyone! I miss you all!

The pain of a breeding moratorium is sitting with me tonight.

The moratorium is a good thing - for my mental health, and for the health of my mice. However, I’ve watched mice I wanted to squeeze one more litter from age up. A few of my elders have died and I haven’t had the joy of babies to lift me out of the grief.

I look forward to being at a place where I can breed again and share the joy with you all ❤️

Hello, hello,

Today we would like to announce an official Bakers Dozen Mousery giveaway, which will be a lovely art piece done of your mice (could be just one or multiple all in one picture), or one of the mice Ryn owns! The two artists being featured for this giveaway are Preacher and Kit (Ryn's fiance), Kit having a more cartoony style, and Preacher having a whimsical style. Because this is a giveaway, it is completely free to enter! We want to give back to the community for supporting Bakers Dozen Mousery while we are closed.

All you need to do to enter is comment your favourite mouse fact; it can be about care, genetics, behaviour, etc, so long as it's backed/supported by science and evidence! If it is incorrect, we will do what we can to help educate and correct it, and always without judgement!

Howdy, howdy! My name's Preacher, but I also go by Toad on the wide webs, my pronouns are they/he. I've known Ryn for onwards around a year now! I don't have the most extensive history with mice, but I am a former owner of two rat lads, so my interest in mice alike is extensive! I'd love to learn more genetics wise about them, as well as the intensive love and knowledge it takes to breed them!
I'm here to help manage both Facebook and Instagram, and hope to make both places knowledgeable and easy to access.
