501c3 organization. We welcome all donations as we depend on them to save these wonderful animals We are a 501c3 non-profit organization which runs on donations.

We do not have a building and are all volunteers. We are NOT a shelter or a humane society. We are not veterinarians and are not a funding source for spay/neuter or vaccinations. We rescue dogs from the Liberal Animal Shelter and transport them to no-kill rescue groups and foster homes for adoption. We are sometimes confused with the City of Liberal Animal Shelter. We work with the Liberal Animal

Shelter to provide better outcomes for lost, surrendered, or stray animals. PLEASE remember that we are volunteers donating our free time, our homes, some of our money and our love for these dogs/cats. "If you cannot afford a vet, then you cannot afford a pet"

Occasionally someone adopts a dog or cat from GPAA. According the Kansas Pet Animal Act, K.S.A. 47-1731 (2), "the prospective owner signs an agreement to have the dog or cat spayed or neutered and deposits with the pound or animal shelter funds not less than the lowest nor more than the highest cost of spaying or neutering in the community. Any funds deposited pursuant to such an agreement shall be refunded to such person upon presentation of a written statement signed by a licensed veterinarian that the dog or cat has been spayed or neutered. If such person does not reclaim the deposit within six months after receiving custody of the animal, the pound or animal shelter shall keep the deposit and may reclaim the unspayed or unneutered animal." Therefore in order to adopt from GPAA the adoption fee is $25.00+$60.00 S/N deposit = $85.00. (We normally do not have any animals for adoption)

It's that time when one starts reflecting back on the past twelve months. Every year Angels experiences many heartbreaks regarding animals we could not save and happiness for those we could. Our journey is filled with demanding 24/7 needs...no holidays, no set office hours, no definite end of the week downtime and there are always plenty of raw materials to deal with.....it's challenging but the rewards are wonderful.
Our organization exits on support from those who care for the well-being of these family members and the environmental health of our community.
The motivation for this post is to thank those who have supported Angels this year. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to you. Your selfless contributions have saved many lives. We extend a sincere "thank you" from Great Plains Angels for Animals. There are many people who are not happy with their names being posted on social media for a number of reasons but business entities need to be recognized for their community support.
Angels for Animals expresses our most sincere appreciation for the on-going support from Dr. Rane, a local plastic surgeon. Dr. Rane has been a champion for animal rights for as long as I can remember. If ever in need of such surgical services please consider her expertise. Individuals who are advocates for animals are gifted with unique qualities.
Golden Plains Credit Union....how thankful we are for them. A member-owned financial institution serving Kansas supports Liberal in many ways. Great Plains Angels for Animals has been blessed with their many contributions to our community. At Golden Plains you are greeted with a willingness to help in every situation. We are always looking for caring people to drive our transports. It requires no special knowledge... Just use one of our vans and drive ...all expenses paid. The animals almost always settle in and all is quiet giving you some peaceful time to yourself. Without the unselfish people that give their time to transport Angels for Animals would not continue. It's not a full-time job, just every once in a while when you're able to give your time. Please help us... We need you. The greatest gift anyone can give is ... time.... for a very worthwhile cause. We do not have a facility and we do not take dogs from individuals.

We don't have animals for adoption. If you are interested in adopting please go to the Liberal Animal Shelter at 1985 N County Estate Road, Liberal, KS or call them at (620) 626-0576. Not only will you be gaining a new family member when you adopt from the Liberal Animal Shelter, you will also save a life.

We are sometimes confused with the City of Liberal Animal Shelter. Liberal Animal Shelter is not a humane society, but is a kill shelter ran by the City of Liberal.
