$25 gets you everything your dog needs to paint an abstract portrait. $5 from each kit sold during October goes to the Scott County Animal Shelter.

A portion of the proceeds will also support Colorspell Studio's children's art programs.

Now that Let Her Ripley is available at Fabled Forest () and Colorspell (), it's time to share the WHY behind this project. Every year, the Georgetown News Graphic () holds a Cutest Pet Contest, which always reminds me how much this town loves our pets. Ripley won it this year, and these paint kits are a small way for us to pay that cool experience (and gift basket) forward.

Ripley painted her own portrait for Pitsmas today, with help of our friends, including pet/horse massage therapist . AND the stamping on the back for was done by another massage therapist/trainer in town . She's all over town, including .studio. Check em out!

Celebrating Pitsmas also means celebrating dog trainers! With Luna, who was deaf and rescued from a bad situation, we needed a trainer to survive. Kendra trained me in how to "talk" to Luna through hand signs, body language, positive reinforcement, and consistency. To be able to take my favorite picture of her in front of the LRC is the result of how effective those methods were. I've used the same methods with Ripley, along with group training at RoseTree, and .....well, we're working on it. My deaf dog listened better.
