My artwork has traveled farther than I. It has crossed borders, passed through customs, and entered the lives of people across the globe. People who speak different languages, live differently, yet still connect with the universal energy within my work.

For a long time, art was how I wandered when I couldn’t go. It became the doorway for me to experience beyond what was right in front of me.

I created “Hitchhiker” during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. I loved the idea of a hermit crab being excited to experience the world from a new perspective upon the back of a rook.

A tiny creature who carries its home with it, suddenly seeing the world from above.

I think there is something courageous about becoming available to a life you once thought was beyond you.

I am now slowly learning how to travel. How to leave and still feel safe. How to prepare without closing myself off. How to wander into new places and receive what the place can teach me.

Maybe some of us have to imagine the journey first before we gain our wings. 🦀 🐚 🐦‍⬛
