All of the Little Saplings are adapting quite well to their new environments and schedules. We are delighted to receive these updates, as they serve as a poignant reminder that although they are no longer in our immediate presence, our thoughts will remain with them forever. 🐾WELCOME TO THE FAMILY EMBER!!!!🐾

Willow, now known as Ember, was the last to go, or should I say first to stay! Is it a breeder fail when you decide to keep one?🤔 I like to think of it as a breeder win! She officially joins our family to complete our Aussie set. We have big plans for her future, but for now we are going to enjoy this fluffball of sweetness. The boys and Oakley are very excited to add her to our chaos and adventures. We would like to thank Smokin’ Aces Aussies for the use of their stud Paxton in helping to create this cutie. It’s definitely been a blessing being able to be the very first hands that held her and witness her first breath. She is keeping the dream of Trailside Aussies alive so her AKC name will be Trailsides Keep The Dream Burning. We couldn’t be more excited about this decision!🥰

Today was Maple's "go home" day and she is one fortunate lady to be sharing forever with Kirstin. We had the pleasure of getting to know Kirstin through numerous phone calls, texts, and visits. She has been anticipating this day for years and has invested considerable time and commitment into researching the Australian Shepherd breed. She knew exactly what she wanted. We couldn't be more thrilled for her dream to have become a reality, and it was an honor that she chose us to fulfill that dream. Maple has a new name; she will now be referred to as Wren. 🥰 She will join the family dog Chessy, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, until Kirstin can find a home they can call their own. Witnessing the way Wren wiggled when Kirstin and Cody came to pick her up, it was quite evident that they share a mutual love for one another. We look forward to watching her grow up surrounded by love. Enjoy your new family, Wren. You will be missed, but you are right where you need to be. ❤️

Birch had a big day yesterday! He joined the Steck family and has some big adventures in his future! His new name is Blaze and couldn’t be more fitting as he will be blazing new dirt paths on the Appalachian trail as Stephenie’s new “trail boss.” To see the excitement in this family welcoming him into their life makes all the hard work in training them worth it! The amount of love this cutie will receive is beyond measure! Oakley and I are looking forward to meeting Blaze and Stephenie for some trail time in the future.😊 Blaze joins Tucker, the family's 12-year-old Aussie. Ash has found her forever family with Gillian and Mason and will be residing in Pennsylvania. Actually, not too far from us, so I’m sure a visit to see this cutie will be in my future.☺️ Her new name is Callie🥰. She will join her feline siblings at home and be spoiled beyond measure. We appreciated getting to know Gillian and Mason through correspondence and visits, and it’s evident that they already hold a deep affection for Callie. We are very particular regarding the homes our fur kids are placed in, but there was no hesitation about this placement. We are thrilled to witness their growth together. Callie’s AKC name is Trailsides High Speed Chase, so if you see Gillian or Mason running after her, rest assured that she lives up to her name!🤣 Callie has a zest for life and loves running and playing. Her fenced-in yard will provide the perfect setting for her. Enjoy your new life sweet Callie! We love you, and welcome to the family Gillian and Mason!☺️

Yesterday was a significant day for Spruce! He went to his forever family and is going to be deeply loved by the Lamarre family. He has settled in nicely and appears very content and happy. The family decided to keep his name and he will forever remain Spruce. Thank you Lamarre family for loving him! We are very excited to watch him grow with all of you! Danielle and I have spoken so many times about “things happen for a reason” and the timing of things and I couldn’t have asked for a better placement! Unfortunately the Lamarre family had planned on picking up another puppy weeks prior to us meeting only to realize it was a puppy scam. We are deeply sorry that happened to them but “things happen for a reason” and we are excited to have them as our new family members here at Trailside Aussies! Enjoy your new life Spruce! We will forever love you!!🥰

This 8 week photo shoot will be a bit different than the past 7 weeks. It has taken me this long to really talk about delivery day. I contemplated whether or not I wanted to share this, but I realized that having a litter of puppies is not always a joyous occasion and the hard truth needs to be told. Yes, they bring so much joy to your life, it’s A LOT of work and there are parts of this experience that can leave your heart aching for a very long time. Unexpected things happen and things go wrong no matter how prepared you are. 😢 Oakley‘s x-ray showed 6 puppies and we did indeed have 6 beautiful puppies. However, we lost the very first one which was a gorgeous Red Merle male. We worked on him for over an hour, but with no success. It is something that I can’t get out of my mind and of course, have all the questions of what if?, if only, etc. I am very thankful that the remaining 5 puppies were born with no issue and that Oakley was fine. I understand that sometimes these things do happen, but it doesn’t mean that I can just forget it and move on. This little guy has been on my mind every single day and as I watched the others grow and thrive I couldn’t help but think about how it would have been if he were here. So today as they turned 8 weeks old, I’m ready to show his picture so his memory lives on. He will forever be one of my “Little Saplings” and remain in my heart.

Now, to celebrate the ones that you’ve all gotten to know and adore, enjoy their final picture with me. I was going to post their “go home” picture in place of a group photo but I feel that deserves a separate post to honor the INCREDIBLE families that they have joined. Stay tuned for Spruce, Ash and Birch’s pictures and new names. Maple and Willow will remain with me one more week until they join their forever families and at that time I will post their “go home” pictures.

It has been an amazing ride with this crew! I will miss them all!❤️🐾
