Are you a "Jeopardy" fan? Well, if there was a feline version, my smarts would give the competition a run for their money while my raven-haired beauty would woo the fellas.

Not only am I the purrfect mix of beauty and brains, but with ten years of experience under my belt, my social graces have been well-honed. I enjoy socializing, sweet snuggles and plenty of affection, and I take my daily dose of hyperthyroid medicine without a fuss.

So how about selecting Best Cats for Zero Dollars*, Alex, and walking away with this Jeopardy jackpot?

*Midnight's $150 adoption fee is completely waived thanks to her many guardian angels. Apply for Midnight today!

ADOPTED! This is an extra-special adoption as Calico Charlie is FeLV+. Because FeLV is contagious to other cats (not to other animals or humans), Calico Charlie needed to be in a home with other friendly FeLV+ cats, the only cat or with cats that have been vaccinated for FeLV.

FeLV+ cats can live perfectly happy lives. People who have FeLV+ cats just need to be aware that these cats may have a shorter life span and that they should be taken to a vet as soon as a problem is noticed. Many people who adopt and care for FeLV+ cats describe it as a positive, deeply rewarding experience, and that they would gladly do so again.

To adopt an FeLV+ cat, check out sweet Wally. His adoption fee is waived thanks to his guardian angel.

Yes, Your Dog Can Get Too Many Walks

Going slow and building up your dog’s physical conditioning will allow you and your dog to be active together now and, in the future, and avoid canine injuries.

Thanks to COVID-19 dogs who usually spend their days looking out windows are being walked, sometimes several times a day. But is this sudden activity change safe? Here’s what you need to know about canine conditioning.

Our Foster Program has the most direct impact on saving lives of any of our programs. THANK YOU to all the wonderful fosters who have opened their hearts and homes to an animal in need.

Also, thanks to all those who support the adoption process from transporting animals, to volunteering at adoption events, to processing applications. It takes a village to rescue, foster and find safe and loving homes for each animal in our care.

Our HSLC Working-Barn Cat volunteers save imperiled feral cats by relocating them to new homes. Although you’ll find "barn" in the name, we also relocate cats to wineries, breweries, warehouses, sheds, garages, and properties with shelter. Relocation is always a last resort and takes vast amounts of volunteer time and effort to ensure successful rehoming.

Thank you Working-Barn Cat volunteers!! #HSLCHeroes #NationalVolunteerWeek

Our HSLC Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) volunteers love an adventure and aren’t worried about getting their hands dirty. They:

- TRAP: Humanely trap cats living together in outdoor colonies.
- NEUTER: Take the cats to be spay/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas/worms, and ear-tipped.
- RETURN: Return the cats to their original outdoor home.

According to the ASPCA, free-roaming cat populations managed by a high-intensity trap-neuter-return (TNR) program experience 31 times fewer preventable cat deaths than when no action at all was taken.

Thank you TNR volunteers!! #HSLCHeroes #NationalVolunteerWeek

If you are looking for an adventure, apply to join our team as one of our trappers: https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp3233502.jsp

Early giving for Give Choose--a day when the community comes together to support local charities--starts today.

Despite these challenging times, HSLC’s all-volunteer team remains as committed as ever to help at-risk animals—from rescuing and rehoming them to keeping them with loving families who are now facing financial difficulties. Due to the pandemic, we have had to cancel or postpone many fundraising events making this year’s Give Choose campaign more important than ever.

Thanks to many generous donors, all donations will be matched up to $2,000 until midnight on May 5.

https://www.givechoose.org/HumaneSocietyOfLoudounCounty

However, if making a monetary donation is not possible this year, we understand and hope you will consider supporting this effort by sharing posts like this one. Together, we can make a difference in saving lives. Thank you!

If you've had your eyes on Wally, this sweet video just might clinch the deal! Remember, his adoption fee is waived thanks to his guardian angel!

Because Wally is an FeLV+ fella, he is contagious to other cats (not to other animals or humans) and needs to be in a home with other friendly FeLV+ cats, the only cat in the household or with cats that have been vaccinated for FeLV.

Bonjour! I am Gigi and I learned the social graces and impeccable manners from my family of seven years. Sadly, they fell on hard times and lost their house so had to bid me adieu.

My family loved me very much, and I'm dreaming of finding that happiness again. In my new home, I promise to uphold my reputation for being sweet and adaptable. I think you'll love my bunny-soft fur and rumbly purrs that express my appreciation. I adore having a couch to sink into, and I am happy to share it with other kitties.

Help make my dreams come true by completing an adoption application today.

Skipper is a GREAT dog found as a stray. He’s a very smart and energetic 1-2 year-old. He might have some Huskie and Shepherd in him, along with other breeds.

Skipper is a very good boy but he can occasionally act out a little. But, he’s made a lot of progress working with a trainer. He enjoys walks/hikes as well as playing with his toys and chew sticks.

Skipper ideally would go to a home in Loudoun County with an experienced dog person and as the only pet in the home. HSLC will cover the cost of our trainer for 5-6 more individual lessons.

To adopt Skipper (or foster with intention to adopt), please complete an adoption application today.

Phantom (now Phoenix) says he doesn't care about distancing but just in case he will act as my mask!
I guess Phantom is my valentine this year. I got a morning kiss, now if I can just get him to make me breakfast in bed!
Animals are so nurturing.
LONG HAIR KITTY SEEN RUNNING IN SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT IN LEESBURG VIRGINIA UNDER PARKED CARS TONIGHT AROUND 7PM. COULD NOT GET A GOOD LOOK AT THE KITTY. LOOKED MEDIUM SIZE, DARK IN COLOR, LONG HAIR. SORRY WAS DRIVING IN OPPOSITE SIDE. COULD NOT GET PICTURES. sHOPPING CENTER IS LEESBURG PLAZA SHOPPING CENTER - 500 EAST MARKET STREET LEESBURG VIRGINIA .
It has been a little bit over a year since we brought Mayo home from the shelter. She has become a happy kitty even though she spent the first couple of weeks under the bed.
We adopted Willow (seen at the end of the video) last year and her momma from Humane Society of Loudoun. Yes, when we adopt them, we love them and their mischiefs. I can’t keep them off the tree. They keep on steeling the ornaments. 😂
Come visit the HSLC at Bluemont Fair.
I have a 1 year old cat, she is spayed and has her vaccines. I found out last night that my brother is very allergic, so I cannot keep her anymore. She is very loving, good with kids and needs a new home ASAP.
Adoption Update: Sally (now Lainee) 💕 I adopted Sally about a year ago now. She is an absolutely ridiculous bundle of goofball love. She is spoiled rotten by my family and loves to come with me wherever she can. I take her to Bible study and she runs around, plopping herself down in front of any source of affection. And. She. Milks. It. They love her to death, we love her to death, and I’m so grateful to have such a loving and goofy dog in my life. 💕 (I have loads more pictures but I had to pick the best one for this post of her all geared up for a car ride. 😂)
I would like to comfort the pets at the shelter tomorrow. Is this possible?
Volume up for purring!! We are quite comfy this morning!!!
Lost cat Purcellville area. Please hit me up if seen. Escaped early this morning. Answers to Dallas.
