#HappyPatient This handsome Frenchie is Remy. He presented to BVNS Woodstock for pelvic limb weakness. After a neurologic examination and MRI were performed with Dr. Neary, it was revealed that Remy that a disc extrusion that was causing spinal cord compression that could explain his clinical signs. Surgical decompression was recommended and performed to give Remy the best possible chance of recovery to normal function in addition to relieving his discomfort.

Here he is at his 2-week post-op staple removal where his owner reported that Remy has been doing amazing at home! He is able to walk around and wants to get back to playing. We wish Remy all the best in the rest of his recovery!

#HappyPatientLoveMonth Lexie presented to BVNS Atlanta in December for a sudden inability to walk. She was paralyzed in both of her back legs. After a neurological consultation with Dr. Neary and the recommended MRI was performed, it was revealed that Lexie had a disc herniation in her back causing severe spinal cord compression.

Dr. Neary performed back surgery to remove the disc material and decompress the spinal cord. Lexie was discharged the next day.
This is Lexie at her staple removal, just two weeks after her surgery. This sweet girl is able to walk on her own and her back is very comfortable. Thank you Dr. Neary for helping Lexie be pain-free! 🧡

Did you know that seizures are more prevalent in certain breeds of dogs? German shepherds, Poodles, Cocker Spaniels, Collies, and Golden Retrievers are among the most common, but cats can also have it. On the bright side, seizures can often be well controlled with medicine, but it can still be a complicated problem for pet owners.

#PatientOfTheDay Meet Mayhem! This little guy was only 3 hours old when he was surrendered to Angie Garrett, a technician with Fairfield Veterinary Hospital. He had a cleft palate and showed signs of hydrocephalus. He was presented to Dr. Young at BVNS Richmond after several seizures, altered mentation, circling and falling backward.

An MRI confirmed the suspected hydrocephalus, which was significant with moderate to severe cortical atrophy/failed development. Due to his age and severity of his clinical signs, Dr. Young decided that they could not perform the more traditional surgery. The newer technique of a ventriculostomy was the perfect option for this patient.

In his two-week post-op, Mayhem was acting like a normal puppy! He was alert and engaged and had not circled or fallen backward since the time of discharge.

We are optimistic about Mayhem’s future! He will require additional surgeries to manage his cleft palate as he grows into his body and skull.

If you would like to help Mayhem raise money for his surgeries, please visit Team Mayhem to support! We hope you get better soon, little one ❤🐶

The "reindeer" on the right is our #HappyPatient Ollie! Ollie came to us in 2016 after having a history of seizures. Some of his seizures lasted for 15 minutes straight! Now, after a long journey, Ollie is practically seizure-free! Ollie, thank you for trusting BVNS. Now, you can continue being Santa's favorite reindeer!😎🎄

#HappyPatient "Last year on 12/22 you and your team were kind enough to make room in your schedule to see Charlie after a disc in his back ruptured early that morning. His injury was severe and the prognosis of him walking again was unlikely. You and your team were so supportive and encouraging during what was an incredibly emotional and stressful time for my husband and I, and we will always be grateful for your kindness. Charlie is walking ONE year later! Thank you for giving Charlie his best possible chance at recovery, he could not have had a better surgeon and we feel so fortunate. We’d like to thank your team as well for the TLC he received during recovery- especially Hannah who was his tech at all of his follow up appointments." Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community. Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find. Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one Veterinarian, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being the featured Veterinarian in our local Welcome Kits. It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 55% of new residents and families seek out a new Veterinarian shortly after their relocation. As such, more than one-half of our Welcome Kit recipients are actively looking for a new Vet. I would like to schedule a time when you are expecting me so that I may drop off a sample of our "Welcome Kit" and explain the program in greater detail. Please reply to this message with your availability or call me at your earliest convenience. For a faster response, or if you prefer, feel free to call or text me on my cell which is listed in my signature. Thanks. Jim Verhey (678) 296-7072 [email protected]
#HappyPatientLoveMonth. Polly Pocket has been a patient since 2016. Dr Barker has taken wonderful care of her! She celebrated her 15th birthday in October!
Dr Barker and staff saved my Bruce’s life. They came in on a Sunday and worked until they were able to diagnose him with Meningitis. Without them willing to do this, we may not have him. I could never repay her and her staff, I will forever be grateful. 💙
Cannot recommend Bush Veterinary Neurology Service highly enough. They are truly care, truly passionate vets, who also happen to be extremely skilled in their specialty. If you have a dog or cat in need of neurology services, or just needs to be checked out, our family recommends them highly, They brought our 6-year-old collie Piper from the zombie-like state she was in because of a brainstem tumor to the loving, curious and friendly dog she was before she became ill.
They were wonderful to our family during our short stay there. They got us in quickly, explained everything so we understood and were patient.

This is one phenomenal group of professionals!
We spent a harrowing day here last Sunday but through it all one thing is certain: Dr.Joli Jarboe and those working with her are among the most remarkable people I have ever met. Our sweet little Bella was in desperate shape. An MRI indicated she had far more going on along her spine than we were ever knew. Surgery for a quick fix was out of the question since more issues would only follow. Dr.Jarboe is talented and sharp and she knows exactly what she's doing. How grateful we are for her knowledge and expertise. Connie and the intern, whose name I don't have, were there with Dr. Jarboe working as a team with diligence and compassion for our dog. I'll never drive by that building again without thinking of all of them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making that tragic moment bearable.
We are a patient in Woodstock,GA. Finally caught a tremor on video. She has been off Doxy for two TBD's since Oct 16, Sunday they started again.
Today is Rastus' 1st birthday. He won't make it to Christmas without this surgery at Bush Neurology in Richmond. Please help save his life.
Rastus turns one year old on Sept 29. All he wants for his birthday is surgery to save his life.
His Mama has already gone above and beyond what most would do, and we're asking for just a little help for him to make it through! Let's Rally for Rastus! His sister says she'll shave her head if the goal is reached by Sept 15.
