this is what a field trip to the dog park looks like.
when I bring groups to the park, it's important that they stay with me, go in the direction I am moving, and when I say to come on they better be moving their legs in our direction.
I don't expect the dogs to stay within a few feet of me but what I do expect is that they stay close enough within 30 to 50 ft to where I can manage situations as other dogs approach

Training doesn't have to take all day and you don't have to make time in your busy schedule to go out and train for hours. Training around the house while you are doing chores looks like this. While you are making dinner or doing dishes or laundry, you can take 30 to 90 seconds to do a quick training session/pack activity.

PSA I have straw in my backyard to keep the mud out of my house. so straw gets brought in and out of the house all day so no judging the floors.
this video is me managing the interactions between these dogs to make sure everybody's behaving correctly to Ensure fights are not started nor escalate.
I also redirect the entire scenario and turn it into a pack activity by having them sit and positively reinforce with treats. Coming together by shifting their focus from eachother to me.
Coke's tolerance level for other dogs is low and it's up to me to keep the balance and make sure things run smoothly between the dogs.

Coke has truly come a long way!
I wish I would have been videoing when I first got her but unfortunately I don't have any videos to compare the progress.
The same dog used to bite me over bones, toys, my bed, food bowl and more.
We have come such a long way!

Training a dog with high prey drive to get along with the cat takes lots and lots of patience and time and commitment and dedication and lots of different training techniques. You will not achieve the goal of getting them to coexist with positive reinforcement only. It will take negative reinforcement as well.

What would I do without my Ray Ray?
I have no idea!
She is truly a wonderful dog at socializing.
She loves to teach other dogs how to behave.
She has the grit, intuition, self discipline, and mind frame to be able to positively teach dogs how to behave.
She is a well balanced dog but not every dog is able to teach how she does! I will forever try to replace this dog probably the rest of my life but truth be told, there is NO dog that could ever truly replace her. She is truly one of a kind 🖤
