Saving dogs, one dog at a time. West Leb, NH is mailing address. Spring 2022 the focus of Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue has been as a responsible rescue we saw the need to shift most of our focus on owner surrender dogs in Vermont and New Hampshire. COVID 19 created a huge desire for lots of households to obtain a puppy or dog....because many people were stuck at home....and working from home. Res

cues, transporters, Veterinary offices, and shelters could not keep up with the demands. We got 100 applications for 1 puppy. It was a crazy time. Fast forward....April 2022, Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue saw the trend of mass owner surrenders going on all over New England. We felt that we could not continue to bring up (from down South on a regular basis) puppies or dogs with the amount of owner surrenders that were happening. We even got several purebred dogs and designer dogs, Chi's, Labs, German Shepherds, Westie, Goldendoodle, etc. People think that these kinds of dogs don't end up in shelters....yes, they do....even here in New England. We had people threatening to euthanize their own dogs here....right here in Vermont and NH.....because they didn't want them anymore....their original owners were done with their Covid puppies. Most of the owner surrenders that have come to Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue needed to be fully brought up to date on their vaccines, micropchipped and also needed to be spayed and neutered. Sadly alot of people go puppies and they did not come spayed or neutered when they got them....the owners didn't care UNTIL when/if they went to go get them fixed....found out the costs are between $900 to $1200.00 to fix a grown adult dog that they have on their hands now.......so this cute little puppy that they got.....paid $$400.00 to $6,000.00 (YES, $6,000.00) during COVID....they didn't think it was fair to spend another $900 to $1200.00 to get them fixed. SO those costs have been passed onto our small but mighty rescue just to save the local COVID puppies.....we can't get these dogs into spay/neuter clinics for the same reasons their owners couldn't.....they are very and far in between for dog spay/neuter clinics....and they are booking months and months out......so in the meantime Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue needs to get these COVID dogs fixed and up to date on their shots....and we go thru our local veterinary offices to get them spayed and neutered....to continue to be a responsible rescue.....we are taking on the huge task of that others are not doing. Our veterinary costs are thru the roof.......we need help, we needs donations to continue to help save the COVID dogs that are local to us. Our adoption fees DO NOT cover our vetting costs at all.......To save one COVID dog....it cost us $1400.00 and her adoption was $325.00 because she was a senior.....she was well worth saving. Clementine’s Life: A Love Story and a Plea for Hope

Today, May 12, 2025, our world shattered.

We said goodbye to Clementine—our sweet, soulful, deeply loved American Bulldog. She was just over 10 years old. Cancer took her from us, but it will never take the love she gave, or the impact she made.

Clementine wasn’t just a dog. She was our heartbeat. Our home. Our miracle.

Her story began in July 2015, on a summer day that changed everything. I traveled to Philadelphia with one of my dearest friends, expecting to help with a foster dog. I didn’t expect to find Clementine. There she was—a tiny four-month-old puppy, rescued from a backyard breeder who had planned to use her for profit. She hadn’t known love, only confinement and a future of exploitation.

But Clementine’s future changed that day.

She had the softest ears, eyes full of worry and wonder, and a heart ready to love. The rescue saw it. So did we. A few weeks later, they chose us to be her forever home. I drove back to Philadelphia, filled with hope, and brought her home for good.

She grew into the kindest soul—funny, sensitive, silly, loyal. She loved sunbathing, cuddling, and watching the world with thoughtful eyes. She had surgery early on for an eye condition, and we were happy to do it. She was family.

But Clementine’s life wasn’t without pain.

When we lost Rio, our 18-year-old long-haired dachshund—Clementine’s best friend and her dog-mom in spirit—she broke. In her grief, she swallowed part of her comforter, and it nearly cost her her life. She needed two emergency intestinal surgeries, and the bills climbed over $10,000. We fought with everything we had. The rescue community rallied, and thanks to about 1/3 of financial donations, prayers, and sheer love, she pulled through. We called her our "$10,000 dog"—not because of the cost, but because of her worth. She was priceless.

Then last fall, she started limping. At first it seemed small. Then we saw the swelling. It was bone cancer.

We tried everything to keep her comfortable. She was brave. So, so brave. Even in pain, she leaned into us for love. She still wagged her tail. She still tried to protect us from our own grief. Today, we had to let her go.

Clementine never had puppies, but she mothered our hearts. She healed pieces of us we didn’t know were broken. Her life was not long enough—but it was full of purpose, and she was loved every single day of it.

And now, we ask for something in return.

Please. In Clementine’s memory, help us save another life.

Please donate to Survivors Paws Animal Rescue—the family that saved Clementine all those years ago started Survivors Paws Animal Rescue. Because without them, she would have been bred until her body broke. She never would have known love. We never would have known her.

Even $5 makes a difference. It saves lives. It gives dogs like Clementine a chance to be cherished instead of discarded. A chance to grow old in someone’s arms. A chance to be somebody’s everything.

We miss her more than words. We loved her more than life. Please help us honor her by saving another dog who deserves a happy ending too.

Thank you. From the bottom of our broken hearts.

Meet Kevin Jr., the latest dog to find his forever home!
Previously abandoned with 20 other dogs, Kevin Jr. was extremely shy, making him the shyest dog we have ever rescued. After months with foster families, he gradually began to come out of his shell. Kevin Jr. needed a home with another dog to thrive.

Fortunately, he has found his ideal home in Vermont with a loving family and a new sibling sister. We wish Kevin Jr. a happy life.

Financial donations are essential to our mission, as saving a dog can cost between $900 and $1,200. Your support enables us to rescue more dogs like Kevin Jr. Please consider donating today and share this story with others.

Please share, share, share!!

Please share and donate.
If everyone would donate $1.00 then we would be out of the negative.....we need to pat our $2,000 outstanding vet bills before we can save more dogs.
Think 🤔 $1.00 times 3,500 followers...that would be $3,500 and our bills would be paid.
We have dogs in foster care..we have to buy food with zero funds. Please donate today.

Survivor’s Story

Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue was started from our dedicated team of volunteers to save dogs and cats from kill shelters from down South.

Survivor was an incredible 3 year old emaciated dog that was dropped off by his original owners at a New York City kill shelter. He was only 32lbs of skin and bones with sores on his poor body. Survivor was pulled from the kill shelter. After extensive tests were done at the veterinary's office, it was found that Survivor was emaciated due to his original owners not feeding him.

Rescues support each other. There was a post for a dog needing transport from New York City to Burlington, VT. As the call of duty, the post was answered. Survivor had the rides he needed to get to his furever home.

Survivor was fostered in New York City for little bit. He was given a ride to Hartford, CT and transported to White River Junction, VT to meet his supposed family from Burlington, VT. That Burlington, VT family failed to show up to pick up this beautiful soul. It was their loss.
