Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center Animal Shelter. Open Monday-Friday 12:00pm-4:00pm and Saturday 12:00pm-3:30pm. We have an application for everyone who is wanting to adopt to fill out.

Lebanon Humane Society, Inc, doing business as “Claws and Paws Animal Adoption Center” is a Missouri Non-Profit Organization. Our purpose is to serve the Lebanon/Laclede County region as a limited admission animal shelter which will strive for a 100% adoption rate of shelter animals with no euthanizing for time or space. We will also work to promote humane care of companion animals and educate the

community concerning pet overpopulation. All adoptions include age appropriate vaccinations and dogs are microchipped. If an animal is not already altered the spay or neuter is included in the adoption price if you schedule an appointment to bring the animal back to the shelter for our vet to do. If you choose to take the animal to your own vet, we will give you a certificate and we will cover $32.00 for dogs and $22.00 for cats. Lebanon Vets honor our certificates, but the service may be more than the certificate will cover depending on size and for pain meds. If you rent your home, we must call and verify with the landlord that you can adopt from us. As with all animals adopted here, there is a contract that states if the adopter during anytime of the animal's life can no longer care for under any reason, must return the animal to us. Animals cannot be sold, traded or given away for any reason. We also offer a 14-day return policy, so if for any reason the animal doesn't work out you can return them to us and can do an exchange for another cat or dog, one time only. The contract also states per Missouri law the animal MUST be spayed or neutered within 30 days of the adoption date (depending on age). We have been known to go and take animals back that have not been taken care of or if there is a breach of contract. We are always willing to take strays or animals that the owners can no longer car for if we have the availability. We take these animals by appointment only and as space allows. If you have any questions, please call at 417-532-9671. We also offer low-cost spay and neuter appointments for people living in the Lebanon and Laclede County areas. As well as low-cost vaccinations and $20.00 Microchipping.

🚨 BIG NEWS: We’re Launching a Volunteer Program! 🚨

We’re so excited to finally announce something we’ve been working on behind the scenes — a formal volunteer program at Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center! 🐾

Most days, there are just one or two people caring for our 28 dog kennels and our community cat room. Every animal is fed, safe, and clean — but the one-on-one attention, enrichment, and love they truly deserve is sometimes hard to give when we’re stretched thin.

That’s where YOU come in. 💙

We’re inviting animal lovers, community members, students, retirees — anyone with a kind heart and a little time to give — to attend our first-ever Volunteer Orientation!

📍 Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center

Meet Ranger! 🐾
This handsome goofball is an 8–12 month old German Shepherd mix who’s ready to trade in shelter life for a forever home of his own. Ranger was picked up by animal control and, sadly, never reclaimed—but he hasn’t let that slow him down one bit.

Ranger is a whole lot of happy packed into one eager, wiggly pup. He has energy for days and a zest for life that’s downright contagious. Whether it’s meeting new people, bouncing around with other dogs, or exploring the great outdoors, Ranger is all in—tail wagging, ears perked, eyes bright. He loves everyone he meets and is genuinely just thrilled to be part of the action.

He does know a few basic commands already and seems to want to learn more—he just doesn’t quite know how to channel all that enthusiasm yet. Ranger is the kind of dog who will thrive with structure, positive reinforcement, and a patient adopter who’s ready to start from the ground up. He’s confident, eager to please, and incredibly smart—traits that will make training more of an exciting journey than a challenge.

Ranger would do best with an active family who can match his energy and give him the outlet he needs to stay happy and balanced. Whether it’s hikes, agility, or a big backyard to romp in, he’s the type who wants to be included and involved.

With a little time and guidance, this boy is going to be something really special. If you're ready to invest in an energetic, loyal, and lovable sidekick—Ranger is more than ready to be yours.

❤️❤️ ADOPTED! ❤️❤️

Meet Meika 💛
This gentle soul is Meika, a 1–2 year old Great Pyrenees who came to us in pretty rough shape. She had been neglected—a little underweight, scared, and suffering from painful eye infections in both eyes. But despite all of that, Meika is nothing but kind and soft-natured.

She's incredibly sweet, mild-mannered, and timid. We’ve started introducing her to other dogs, and she’s done beautifully—calm, friendly, and happy to make quiet connections. But it's also heartbreakingly clear that Meika has never known life inside a home. She’s absolutely terrified to come indoors, and will tremble and freeze when she’s unsure. She had never been on a leash before either, but we’re taking baby steps with that—and she’s trying her best.

There isn’t a mean bone in this girl’s body. She’s not aggressive, or defensive, just overwhelmed and unsure of what to do in a world that’s finally showing her kindness. Right now, she is in desperate need of a family that can be patient with her. She may be happier as an outside dog- which is fine. But that doesn't mean we want her to be left out and forgotten again. She still needs lots of time and effort to help her rehabilitate.

Meika may have been forgotten in her past, but that is not the future we want for her. She deserves a second chance, a gentle touch, and a safe place to grow. If you have the heart and patience to show her what love looks like, she’ll reward you with quiet loyalty and a heart that’s ready to heal. 🤍

Meet Annie [ADOPTED] & Oakley! 🐾

These two beautiful girls are guessed to be about 8 months old and likely American Bulldog mixes. Their story is a bit of a mystery—Annie and Oakley were found abandoned together, wandering dangerously close to a busy road. Thankfully, a kind-hearted Good Samaritan took them in and kept them safe in her backyard until we had space to welcome them.

Annie and Oakley are sweet, happy-natured pups who are still figuring out the world. It’s clear they haven’t had much in the way of guidance—no one has taught them the basics of being a pet. They're under-socialized and a little unsure in new situations, but they do like attention and are curious about people. Once they start to feel safe, you’ll see their tails wag and their personalities bloom.

They seem to do well with confident, well-mannered dogs and could benefit from having a calm canine role model in the home. These girls will need some time, patience, and love to help them catch up on socialization and home life basics—but the potential is all there.

Annie and Oakley are looking for homes that are ready to show them kindness, consistency, and care—maybe for the very first time. Maybe that could be you? 💛

Meet Peanut! 🥜
This sweet 3-year-old Lab mix is looking for a new place to call home—and he truly deserves one.

Peanut ended up at our shelter through no fault of his own. His previous owner was dealing with serious medical issues and had to move in with relatives who, sadly, weren’t able to accommodate a dog. It was a heartbreaking goodbye, but we promised we'd help Peanut find the second chance he deserves.

Peanut is already a well-mannered gentleman. He’s fully house trained and crate trained, and he’s been around both kids and dogs with no issues—he’s polite, gentle, and respectful. He rides well in the car and would love to be your shotgun passenger for errands or weekend adventures. That said, Peanut’s not a high-energy kind of guy. He’s more of a homebody who would rather lounge by your side than sprint laps in the yard.

He enjoys short walks, belly rubs, quiet evenings, and just being near his people. Peanut’s calm demeanor makes him a great match for someone looking for an easy-going, loving companion—whether you live in a house with a yard or a cozy apartment.

This mellow boy is past the puppy chaos and just wants a soft bed, a steady routine, and a person to love. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance best friend, Peanut might be the perfect fit.

Come meet this sweet soul and see if he’s the one you've been missing. 💛🐾

📣 How do we still have Remmy?! 😭

This spunky little firecracker has officially earned the title of LONGEST STAY RESIDENT at our shelter—and we just can’t believe it.

Remmy has been without a home since December 2023 (that's over 560 days!), and while her past is a mystery, her personality is anything but! She’s full of energy, endlessly entertaining, and has a deep love for toys (seriously—tennis balls, ropes, squeakers... you name it, she lives for it).

Yes, she’s a terrier through and through—independent, strong-willed, and hilariously dramatic. She's also sweet, snuggly when she’s ready to settle, and fiercely loyal to her people. But she’s not for everyone, and maybe that’s why she’s still waiting. Remmy needs a home that understands her big personality. A place where she can be the center of attention (and the only dog, most likely), and where there are no tiny humans to startle with her zoomies.

She’s not a beginner dog, but for the right person, she’ll be the best dog ever.

Help us get Remmy out of the shelter and into the life she deserves. She’s waited long enough. 💔

Meet Bailey! She is a 9-month-old, 25lbs Dachshund (?) mix who was recently surrendered—not because of anything she did, but because her previous owner had to move and couldn’t take her along. It’s a heartbreaking situation, especially since Bailey is such a sweet and lovable girl.

She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take her long to warm up. Once she does, you’ll have a loyal friend by your side! Bailey has experience living with kids, cats, and other dogs and has done well with them all.

She's never been leash trained, is still working on house training and hasn’t had any crate training yet, so she’ll need a patient home willing to help her learn the ropes. But she’s smart, eager to please, and with a little guidance, she’s sure to catch on quickly.

Bailey isn’t quite ready to go home just yet—she’s scheduled to be spayed early next week and will be available for adoption starting Wednesday. If you’re looking for a young, sweet, and gentle companion to grow with your family, keep an eye on this little lady!
