Friday the dog and Tammy the cat were adopted together! 🐶🐱 These two are heading off to their forever home as a perfect little duo, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

Chester is a 7-year-old Cocker Spaniel with a gentle soul and a heart full of love to give. With his soft, soulful eyes and sweet nature, he’s every bit as lovable as he looks. Chester came to us through no fault of his own—his previous family simply no longer had the time to care for him. Despite the sudden change, he’s remained calm, kind, and full of quiet hope.

Chester has spent his whole life as an outdoor dog, so living indoors will be a new chapter for him—but one he’s ready to explore. He’ll need a patient family willing to help him adjust to new routines, sounds, and spaces. He’s not housebroken yet, but he’s a smart boy who wants to please and will thrive with gentle guidance and consistency.

He’s a mild-mannered guy—low energy, easygoing, and happiest when he’s near his people. He gets along well with other dogs, is respectful of cats, and has experience around livestock. He’s also good with children, making him a wonderful option for a calm, family-oriented household.

Chester is a bit overweight right now, but with a healthy diet and a few extra walks, he’ll be on the path to feeling his best again soon (and he’ll enjoy every step of the way, as long as it’s beside you).

Chester may be older, but he still has so much life and love left to give. He’s looking for a quiet, loving home that will give him the second chance he deserves—somewhere warm, safe, and filled with kindness.

Say hello to Millie! She is a soft-hearted, sweet girl who’s looking for a fresh start and a forever family. She was originally found as a stray and, despite the finders’ best efforts, her owner was never located. They cared for her as long as they could, and although Millie lived outdoors on their property, she showed great loyalty by sticking close and never wandering far. That little glimpse into her character told us a lot—she wants to belong to someone.

We don’t know much about her background, but Millie’s personality is starting to shine through. She’s gentle, calm, and has a quiet way about her. Right now, she’s a bit overwhelmed in the shelter environment. It’s clear that all the noise and change are a lot for her, but even in her nervous moments, she’s never anything but sweet.

Millie will thrive in a home that gives her the time and patience to adjust. She’s not the kind of dog to rush into new situations, but once she trusts you, you’ll have a loyal and loving companion by your side. She’s one of those special dogs that just needs a little understanding to really come out of her shell.

If you're looking for a gentle spirit to grow with, Millie might just be your perfect match.

We are absolutely blown away by the response to our very first Volunteer Orientation. 💙 Thank you to everyone who has signed up to come see what we're all about — your enthusiasm and kindness mean the world to us (and to the animals)!

Because of the overwhelming support — and the limited space in our facility — we’ve made the decision to cap the August 9th orientation to keep things comfortable and organized.

👉 BUT DON’T WORRY! We’re already planning our next Volunteer Orientation on:

🚨 BIG NEWS: We’re Launching a Volunteer Program! 🚨

We’re so excited to finally announce something we’ve been working on behind the scenes — a formal volunteer program at Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center! 🐾

Most days, there are just one or two people caring for our 28 dog kennels and our community cat room. Every animal is fed, safe, and clean — but the one-on-one attention, enrichment, and love they truly deserve is sometimes hard to give when we’re stretched thin.

That’s where YOU come in. 💙

We’re inviting animal lovers, community members, students, retirees — anyone with a kind heart and a little time to give — to attend our first-ever Volunteer Orientation!
