Today was gathering up the last of the available honey from the backyard bees. Goldenrod nectar makes for darker, thicker honey than what I saw in the Spring.
The refractometer says it is at 17.8%. It tastes great.

Here are some of the photos and videos of the process.
Not terribly messy this time, maybe I am getting better...

Successfully relocated another wayward hive this week. Homeowner discovered a hive had moved into the space between the first floor ceiling and the second floor flooring, behind the chimney. It was not easy to get access to the comb but bent the flashing and removed about 6 inches of non-essential 2 x 4, and we caught them. Thanks Bob for the help.

What great weather today in League City, Tx. (South of Houston) The workers are really working on the Coral Vine from the Bluebonnet Home and Garden shop in Chappell Hill, Tx.
It is worth the trip to see their Coral vine covering a tree on the back of the property and see the bees working at this time of year.
Great photo of an onlooker keeping watch on top of the fence.

The weather is still warm (hot) here South of Houston Tx. In the 90's. These girls are running their A/C unit on high today. Turn your sound up a bit and hear it hum.
The birds and the bees are making some noise this afternoon.

Moved another Hive of Bees out of a yard so they won't cause any more trouble. They were in a bird house. Homeowner said I could keep the bird house.

Thanks Backyard Bees for the honey. That’s the payoff from the heat, smoke, and stings this spring.

It is officially the end of the honey season. When I harvested a bit earlier this summer, there were a few frames that were not quite completed. Looked again today and every thing was capped and even took a frame of wax with no foundation.
Trying a little experiment this year and added some sweet basil, rosemary and some vanilla to make an infused variety. I will let you know a bit later how they turn out.

Ended up with 16 jars and 12 boxes with comb. The jars are 10 fl. oz or about 16 oz of honey by weight.

to get you a taste.

Another late season removal. Bees were calm, beekeeper was calm.
Bees were found in behind siding as a house was being remodeled. Contractor had me pull 4-5 extra pieces of siding off, just to make sure.

Photo 1 - view before siding was removed
Video 1 - video as siding was removed
Video 2 - Comb was cut and placed on frames in the box. Watch workers scurry up the side. They know where the Queen has landed.
Video 3 - Learning where they are at the new home in the Biene Honey and Hives apiary.
