Broken teeth do cause pain and may lead to an abscess or infection. Dogs and cats are experts at masking pain and don’t want us to know when something is hurting them. Many times these signs of pain are very subtle and may progress over time causing it to be difficult for an owner to notice.

While I make fun of how Dentistry doesn't play a role in emergencies, Mary is a champion and leader in our profession. Her accomplishments #NAVTA presidency, #VTS academy leadership, state advocacy, publishing textbooks, conference speaking and doing in-practice training Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education (just to name a few) has helped SO many people!

Our staff was lucky to recently have Dr. Teresa Himebaugh from Idexx Laboratories and Mary Berg from Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education come to our clinic and share their knowledge with us on running urinalysis and dental radiographs. Both of these services we offer in clinic and participating in these continuing education discussions enables us to further assist our patients and you, our clients.

We had a big day with hands on training with Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education learning to use our brand new digital dental x-ray machine! We can now offer our dental patients a higher level of care and diagnose and treat problems early. Dental x-rays, just like the ones you have done at your annual dental visits, help identify problems below the gum line such as tooth resorption, abscesses, fractures, retained roots and more. These problems may contribute to your pet's breath, difficulty eating, or left untreated, tooth loss. Digital dental X-rays allow us to identify these and intervene, and can be taken during your pet's dental. If necessary, we can send them to the dental specialists for further evaluation. We can also send you the images via email! We're proud to offer this new level of care.
