Summertime update from our home to yours.
The heat is on, and it's been a busy year! From January thru June, we have found homes for 225 cats/kittens, and have transported approximately 40 felines to Rio Rancho, where they have found great homes. We've also spayed or neutered approximately 450 kitties.
Our Spring Fling was a smashing success, yielding over $23,000! Sincere thanks to the amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly on this event, as well as generous folks who donated the amazing array of items (over 300!) and the equally generous bidders! We'll do it again next year, so stay tuned...
The Silent Auction Fundraiser, hosted at Chalkboard restaurant by the Las Cruces Arts Association, yielded over $2300 for The Cat's Meow! Many thanks to everyone who worked on this event, as well as the wonderfully talented artists who donated the amazing array of beautiful items which were generously bid on by the attendees. A great time was had by all! Thank you!!
Thanks to a $500 match from the amazing sponsors of this event, we received over $1700! Many thanks to all who donated, and to Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico for hosting this annual event.
Thanks to everyone who saves and donates their aluminum cans for us! Believe it or not, we get around $300 monthly from redeeming these cans!! A small favor to ask of those of you who donate... Please, separate your aluminum and tin cans! We must separate them prior to redeeming them, which is a time-consuming task. Not sure which is which? A magnet will adhere to tin cans, but not aluminum. Thank you so much!
We also received funds from a See's Candy fundraiser (Thank You, Kathleen), a yardsale at Michele's Dance Academy (Thank You, Charlene), and a tattoo fundraiser at Zia Mobile Vet Open House (Thank You, Zia staff and "Tick" from Black Rat Tattoo). We are so grateful for the time and effort put forth by these amazing people and businesses. THANK YOU!
Truly, it takes a small army of volunteers to ensure that our feline residents have clean condos, litterboxes, and food/water bowls. Other volunteers greet visitors, help to facilitate adoptions, and make sure our kitties are fed, watered, and tucked in to their beds at the end of each day. We are grateful for each and every one of them.
As you can see, we have been busy, busy, busy! The work never ends, and the flow of cats needing help also never ends. We could not continue this important work without all of you. Our monthly expenses are $20,000-$25,000, with veterinary expenses making up the majority of these costs. On behalf of the kitties, thank you for your continued support.
