A Friendly Reminder from Your SVS Team 💜
We love your animals. Truly. They’re the reason we show up every day. Early mornings, long days, and everything in between.
But lately, we’ve seen an uptick in frustration being taken out on our team… and we need to address it.
We get it. When your pet isn’t okay, emotions run high. They’re family. We understand the worry, the fear, the urgency.
But here’s the reality behind the scenes:
Shine Veterinary Services is a small, mixed-animal general practice with
➡️ ONE veterinarian
➡️ TWO registered veterinary technicians
➡️ ONE full-time receptionist
➡️ Hundreds of patients and clients
We are doing the absolute most we can, with the team and resources we have.
So when you call and we:
• Ask questions
• Check the schedule
• Or recommend a referral
👉 That is not us “turning you away.”
👉 That is us doing what is best for your pet.
Some emergencies require more staff, equipment, or medications than we have available in that moment. Referring you means we are prioritizing your pet’s outcome, not convenience.
Emergency Services Policy 🚨
We are currently only providing emergency services for CURRENT clients.
To qualify, your pet must have been seen for routine care within the past 12 months (valid VCPR).
This allows us to:
✔️ Be available for the clients who trust us with ongoing care
✔️ Provide safer, more effective treatment
✔️ Avoid stretching our small team beyond safe limits
About the Emergency Line 📞
If you get voicemail, it does not mean call back 37 times.
It means:
👉 We are most likely actively helping a patient
👉 We will call you back as soon as we can
Follow the instructions. We promise, we’re not ignoring you.
Pharmacy Update 💊
We no longer work directly with outside pharmacies (Chewy, 1-800-PetMeds, etc).
Why?
• It was taking hours away from patient care
• It delayed care for pets in front of us
• It does not support our small business
GOOD NEWS:
We make it easy.
✔️ We can email you a prescription
✔️ You can print it for a local pharmacy OR mail it to the online pharmacy you prefer.
(Yes—Chewy will always beat our prices. We know. We’re not offended. Just please handle the upload on your end 😉)
At the end of the day…
We are not a corporate hospital.
We are not an emergency facility.
We are a small, hardworking team trying to provide compassionate, affordable care.
We have families. Bills. Lives outside the clinic.
And we deserve to be treated with the same respect and kindness we show every single patient and client.
We’re on the same team. 🤝
Our goal is simple:
Get your pet the care they need, even if that means it’s not with us in that moment.
