🐾 Meet Jax: The Sweetest Little Treat Stealing Troublemaker! 🐾

Jax made his grand debut at Wagging Tails Retreat, and let’s just say… he understood the assignment! 🐶✨

This adorable Goldendoodle came in for his very first boarding stay and wasted absolutely no time making himself at home. He made friends with everyone, fit right in with the pack, and had us wondering if he had secretly been coming here for years!

At first, Jax was sweet, polite, and innocent… but once he realized he was surrounded by friends and people who adored him, that personality REALLY started coming out! 😂 Before long, Jax discovered his voice — and apparently, he had some opinions he needed to share. The talking back, the little bits of attitude, the “excuse me, I have something to say” moments… we couldn’t help but laugh!

And honestly, we loved every second of it. ❤️

Jax is one seriously smart pup, and you can tell he knows exactly how to get his point across. He’s funny, affectionate, playful, and incredibly loving. Watching him get comfortable and let his goofy little personality shine was easily one of our favorite parts of his stay.

By the end, Jax wasn’t just another guest — he was part of the Wagging Tails crew! 🐾💙

Jax, you are officially invited back anytime! We would LOVE to see more of your sweet face, hilarious antics, big personality, and, of course, your very important opinions. 😂

The pups enjoying some fetch time! 🐾

Max, the brown mixed breed, USED to be dog aggressive when he first got placed with us at Wagging Tails Retreat. It took months and months and months of work with slow and proper introductions for him to be able to be fully incorporated with other pups.

Now, he is exposed to all pups and is the sweetest and most patient pup ever!

We’re so immensely proud of him and his progress!

Chloe and Thor are bff’s!

If you’ve been following Wagging Tails Retreat since our opening in May of 2025, you would have seen Chloe on couple of our past post.

When Chloe initially got dropped off to us over a year ago, she was a VERY anxious girl. She was sooo anxious that she would not allow us to safely put her harness on because she would immediately snap at our hand, trying to bite us.

Everything was fear based. She did not allow other humans to approach her that was not her mom or dad. However, she was phenomenal with pups!

Since our opening, Chloe was ONE of the only TWO pups we have had to call the owners and let them know that we might NOT be able to fulfill our service due to how severe her fear reactivity was. However, we didn’t want to just give up on her. So, we kept trying.

After multiple boarding with us, she started to trust us. She now allows us to touch her, put her harness on her AND carry her!

Her progress has been phenomenal and it makes our heart so happy!

Now, we are working on safely allowing her to play in the backyard without her running 🤣

Despite her size, she’s a JUMPER.

I was informed by her parents that she has escaped their backyard on multiple occasions, making them chase her down.

Due to this concern, her parents and I have decided this was the best way to allow her to socialize and play.

When people are concerned about our water bills but our concerns are ensuring our pups in our care don’t overheat in the summer heat while having fun! 🐾

If the pups want water, the pups will get water! 💦

Meet Bailey and Bowie!

These two precious doodles we had the absolute pleasure of caring for! Bailey, the chocolate doodle is an ABSOLUTE angel and a sweet heart! She was sooo loving, calm, and the sweetest baby ever! She was our shadow. Never left our side and was incredibly gentle with all pups.

Bowie, was the extrovert. Everyone and anything that moved was his bff and we absolutely loved how well he got along with all the pups in our care. He was the social butterfly that brought so much positive chaos into the pup playgroup!

They were both incredibly well behaved and did phenomenal for their first time with Wagging Tails Retreat and we can’t wait to see more of them going forward! 🐾🤍

I promise you, Lyla is a very very very sweet girl 🤣 But, her smile can confuse you and make you think otherwise 😅

GOODBYE NYLA 🐾

Another one of our first and loyal fur-client had her last day at Wagging Tails Retreat.

Nyla first came to us when we first opened, and since then, she’s been a regular whenever her parents needed to take their much needed vacation.

When Nyla first came to us, she was a very anxious pup. She didn’t trust anyone EXCEPT her mom and dad and it took us a very long time to win her over. Like always, we worked with her pace. We didn’t approach her until she approached us, and we always always always used positive words to encourage her and reward her with high value treats whenever she came out of her kennel (we kept her kennel open so she had a place to go when she was overwhelmed).

Eventually, we won her over and she started to trust us. A pup that went from hiding in her kennel everyday, came out, barked at us when we took too long to give her, her treat, jumped up and down excited for her walk and.. she SMILED!

She has made soooo much progress and we couldn’t be happier knowing that she will be going to her next sitter in Colorado with a little bit more trust in people.

We wish you the best Nyla girl! We know your next sitter will absolutely ADORE you like we did! 🐾🤍

Meet Halo!

Halo has been with Wagging Tails Retreat before but had to be separated from all the other pups EXCEPT from her own sister, Princess, as Halo was very very very dog reactive.

She is amazing with humans, but was not a fan of other dogs unless it was her sister.

This time around, Halo’s mom requested we try and work with Halo’s reactivity as she wanted Halo to socialize with other pups outside of Princess. I let them know I was going to take two extra precautions (muzzle and correction collar) if she was ok with it. Her mom gave them thumbs up and we went to working with Halo’s reactivity.

Knowing Princess (Halo’s sister’s personality), I knew immediately which pups would be an amazing fit for Halo to start off with.

Luna and Posie - our two veteran pups that comes very often with similar personalities to Princess. Both pups are very friendly, but also submissive if needed. So, we put Halo’s muzzle and correction collar on and introduced Luna and Posie. And - Halo did PHENOMENAL!

She sniffed them out and immediately started wagging her tails and wanted to play.

We knew it would be an amazing match and we were right! We still kept the muzzle and correction collar on for the safety of all pups as it takes time for a reactive pup to be fully transition into a social play group without them, but for her first time being around other pups that isn’t her own sister, we say it’s a success!
