Am I the only one chomping at the bit for Fall? I am Sooooo ready for cooler weather and to get started with my breeding season. I plan on breeding really heavily this fall. I have brought in new bloodlines, some more rabbits from current bloodlines and will be breeding some of my homebred show rabbits for the first season. My goal is to really focus on trying to improve the structure of the babies I produce this year. I have REALLY been listening closely to the Judges opinions and critiques and know where I need to make improvement. Primarily with Depth and shoulders. Flat toplines are my nemesis lol...
Next year I should be able to scale back the number of breedings and ONLY breed the pairs that produce the best results.
So with that said, so far at least my plans are (very subject to change lol)....
VALENTINE (Homegrown), Blue to HARDY, Broken Blue
SAPPHIRE, Blue to ARAGON, White (carries blue) Repeat Breeding or HARDY, Broken Blue also a repeat
KAHUNA (New), White to GAMBLER, White
ALOHA, White to ARAGON repeat breeding or HARDY, Broken Blue
PROMISE, Broken Blue to ELVIS, Blue or GAMBLER, White
DREAM, Broken Black to ELVIS, Blue or HARDY again
MIMZY, Broken Black to GAMBLER, White
CRYSTAL (New), Black to BO, Broken Black or ELVIS, Blue
APPLE, Red to CASH Red
REMMY (New), Black to HARDY, Broken Blue
I am still up in the Air on whether or not I will breed Atty this season, I am typically a 3 strikes your out breeder.. Atty has produced 2 nice sized litters for me, but has failed to mother either. She builds a great nest, has them IN the nest, jumps in to check them, but either doesn't allow them to feed or has no milk so they quickly go downhill. Both litters I have either fostered all or bottle fed. So I am torn on whether or not to breed her a third time or go on and cull her. IF I decide to breed her one more time, I will make sure that there are multiple other does bred at the same time to split the litter between if necessary (I will not over burden one doe). Bottle babies are sweet, but they are a TON of work.
Any way... I am getting super excited to start those kindling countdowns for new litters..
What are y'all's breeding plans this fall?
