Lily came to us carrying a lot of big feelings in a little cattle dog body. ❤️

At just one year old, this sweet girl was struggling with handling sensitivity, leash reactivity, barking in the car, jumping, mouthing, and fear around everyday interactions. She had to be muzzled for grooming appointments and even having her collar put on or taken off was stressful for her. In a home with two young children, her family knew they needed help — and they chose to invest in training before turning to anxiety medication.

The first few days with Lily were all about patience and trust. Once she realized she was safe, everything started to change.

The transformation has been incredible. Lily is now safely handled with confidence, calmly walking past people and dogs without lunging or barking, riding quietly in the car, and even happily playing with other dogs. Most importantly, she has learned how to relax and engage with the world in a healthier way.

We are so proud of Lily, but even more proud of her family for their love, commitment, and willingness to do the work for her. Dogs like Lily don’t just “get better” by accident — they flourish when they are understood, supported, and given clear guidance.

Because of that dedication, Lily now has the brighter future she deserves. 🎓🐾

There’s a huge difference between chaos and control.

This weekend we spent time learning more about the role of play in training, defensive handling skills, and how experienced trainers safely work around powerful dogs.

Highly trained sport protection dogs give trainers the opportunity to practice important handling skills in a controlled environment. These dogs are extensively trained in bite work and, just as importantly, trained to immediately disengage when commanded.

Feeling the power and intensity behind a trained protection dog is something you never fully appreciate until you experience it firsthand. The athleticism, focus, control, and training involved is incredible.

Major respect to these dogs and to the handlers who have dedicated countless hours to building that level of precision, obedience, and trust. 👏🐾

⭐️Meet Gary 🐾⭐️

At 10 months old, Gary the Bernedoodle had plenty of puppy enthusiasm… and his family was definitely feeling it. Barking, leash pulling, jumping on guests, getting mouthy and nippy, ignoring recalls, and struggling to settle in the house were all part of daily life.

The good news? Gary is exactly the age where puppies are mentally ready to start developing real impulse control and learning how to make better choices. And wow, did this boy rise to the occasion. 👏

During training, Gary really matured. He learned how to slow down, listen, and channel all that goofy puppy energy into being a polite companion. Underneath all the chaos was the sweetest temperament, and it has been so fun watching his personality shine through.

He’s still young, still playful, and still very much a Bernedoodle… but now his family can actually enjoy all the wonderful things about him without getting steamrolled in the process. 😂

We are so proud of this handsome boy and can already tell he is going to make an incredible family dog. ❤️

⭐️Look at her go! ⭐️

Goose arrived believing every walk was actually a full-contact sport.

If you weren’t paying attention, she’d tow you down the street like a sled dog headed for the Iditarod. 😅

Fast forward to today: leash dragging on the ground, calmly walking right beside her handler like she’s been doing it her whole life.

Sweet? Always.Polite? That part took a little coaching. 😉

Now Goose is the kind of dog anyone could walk — even a small child — and it would be an absolute pleasure.

Proof that training doesn’t change your dog’s personality… it just helps the best parts shine through. 🩵

⭐️New graduate alert! ⭐️

Big congratulations to Stella, the Akbash, Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd mix! These are three different types of livestock guardian breeds that make for a tricky mix. Livestock guardian dogs are bred to live outdoors, guard livestock, and keep potential threats at bay. They are very independent and don’t train up like most dogs. They can be aggressive to other dogs, enjoy standing outside barking for no good reason, and hate being confined in any way.
This sweet girl came to us from a ranch outside Steamboat Springs and was having some serious issues with;

Separation Anxiety
Panic attacks and absolute refusal to use a crate
Major destruction in the house including a sofa, char and ottoman
Anxiety in the car
Complaints about barking
Difficulty brushing or clipping nails
Jumping
Mouthing
Digging
And not great with other dogs

Many of these behaviors are typical for a livestock guardian breed but were making life very difficult for her family to go to work or leave her alone at all.

Stella joined us for three weeks of intensive training and socialization with our balanced pack. We went slowly with her, getting her comfortable with both the crate and the car. She has improved so much, I can’t adequately explain but watching her new behavior with her dad makes us so very proud of this big girl! Way to go Stella! And thank you, Pete, for coming all this way and trusting us with your baby girl! These two have a great life ahead with lots of fun, mountain adventures together!

⭐️ New graduates alert! ⭐️

We frequently train subsequent dogs for the same family, but it’s not too often that we train three dogs, for the same family, at the same time!

But that’s exactly what we did for our lovely client, Brie. She first came to us for help with her new dog, Sofia, who she had recently rescued in Greece. After flying home here to Colorado, Brie discovered that Sofia was used to running free and was frequently running off from her new, mountain home. That’s when she turned to us for help! Once we got started with Sofia, Brie decided her other dogs could be a little more responsive too. Soon, we had all three of Brie’s dogs in our training program!

Dogs thrive with consistency so having all three on the same page with training will always yield the best results. Brie is absolutely thrilled with her new, improved pack!

“My God, I mean, My Dogs! You all did the most amazing job with them! I love working with them on and off lead! They are all three velvet soft on lead! I would love to write a review, if you like. I am beyond happy with the results!” - Brie, Nederland, Colorado
