Freedom isn’t something we give dogs. It’s something they earn through trust, consistency, and training.

Today’s hike through the stunning red sandstone trails of Boulder was a first for this group. Under bright blue skies, surrounded by towering pines, they got a glimpse of the adventures waiting for them as their training progresses.

Today, long lines trailed behind them—not because we don’t trust them, but because they give us the opportunity to coach, reinforce, and build reliable recalls in a real-world environment. Before long, those long lines won’t be needed.

One of the most inspiring moments was watching Helen, our deaf and visually impaired girl, experience the trail with growing confidence. Disabilities don’t define what’s possible. With thoughtful training, clear communication, and trust, Helen is discovering that she can enjoy the same freedom as any other dog.

This is why we train. Not just for better manners, but for bigger lives. ❤️🐾

Two sisters. Two different starting points. One incredible transformation. 🎓🐾

Congratulations to Daisy and Darla on graduating from their Perfect Pooch program!

When Daisy came to us at 3 years old, she struggled with barking and lunging at people and dogs on walks and from the car, separation anxiety, unreliable recall, chasing the cats, jumping on guests, and pulling on the leash.

Little sister Darla, just 6 months old, had already started following in Daisy’s paw prints. She wasn’t yet housetrained and would only use potty pads inside, refused to potty outdoors, and had already developed barking, leash reactivity, jumping, mouthing, separation anxiety, and a love of chasing the family cats.

Watching these girls blossom has been so rewarding!

One of the biggest lessons from their journey is this: the sooner we address unwanted behaviors, the easier they are to change. Darla was still young enough that many of her habits hadn’t become deeply ingrained, while Daisy had spent years practicing hers. Both girls made tremendous progress, but Daisy’s journey naturally required a little more time and consistency.

Today, these sisters are calmer, more confident, and much more enjoyable companions. Their family couldn’t believe the difference and neither could we!

Training a deaf and partially blind dog. This is our fourth day working with Helen and she is making exceptional progress. Thinking out of the box and adapting training to each individual dog’s needs is key for every dog but especially those with disabilities.

🎓 Congratulations, Herman! 🎓

When Herman joined our Perfect Pooch Program, his family was struggling with some very common (but very frustrating!) behaviors. He loved to jump on and mouth people, dig and chew anything he could find, help himself to items on the counter, chase the cat, pull on the leash, react to dogs and distractions, and had absolutely no interest in coming when called or settling down at home.

Fast forward to today, and Herman is a completely different dog.

Through consistent training, structure, and practice, Herman has learned how to make better choices, relax in the house, walk politely on leash, come when called, and coexist peacefully with his feline sibling. Most importantly, he’s learned how to regulate his excitement and be a calm, enjoyable companion for his family.

We are so proud of all the hard work Herman and his family have put in. Congratulations on your graduation, Herman—you’ve earned it! 🎉🐾

Meet Helen. ❤️

Helen is a deaf and visually impaired Poodle mix, making her one of the most unique training clients we’ve had the opportunity to work with.

We’ve worked with deaf dogs before, but Helen is our first student navigating both hearing and vision loss. While her disabilities present some unique challenges, our training philosophy remains the same: meet the dog where they are and build communication in a way that makes sense to them.

We will be focusing on creating clear communication, building confidence, and helping her safely navigate the world around her. Training a dog with disabilities isn’t about lowering expectations—it’s about finding the right path to success.

We’re excited to share Helen’s progress and show what’s possible when training is tailored to the individual dog. 🐾
