still considering letting my birds go if anyone is interested. giving first chance here before I post them other places. picture in comments
would anyone by chance be interested in a starter flock?
I'm heavily considering letting go of a big portion of my flock, all my standard sized hens and possibly my pair of turkeys to be exact. I will be keeping my few bantam ameraucana and my 3 muscovy ducks for now, might let them go in the future as well. I'm still in the debateing phase of this as I don't want to, but more than likely it's going to have to happen sadly, I don't like bringing our hardships to the page but birds are one of our biggest expenses right now and something needs to give. personally I would love to sell the flock as a group, there are about 12 hens and a rooster all of them get along well and some were together before I got them, nothing fancy but they are good egg layers and keep us rolling in eggs, most are hyline browns(amazing egg production) aside from 2 easter eggers (one would technically be an olive egger) and there is one rooster who can go with them for free he is a bantam sized easter egger, and yes he can breed the hens, his dad is a bantam ameraucana and he had no issues getting the bigger hens the chicks would just be a bit smaller than standards lol. if I couldn't sell them as a whole starter flock then at least in pairs or small groups, as a group I'd let the hens and rooster go for $250 as individuals it would be $25 per hen $10 for the rooster(or free with a large portion of hens) they are 3 1/2 years old and under, still plenty of laying life in them, especiallyif you just want a nice backyard flock and pets. my turkeys are heritage black and blue slate, the hen is black slate (has produced blue slate poults) hen was hatched in June of 2022 and tom is blue slate and was a 2024 poult, they would be $100 for the pair, I will not separate them. they tend to stick to themselves and are skittish of people, the tom has not shown aggression towrds people I can go in the pen do what I need to do and they don't bother me, hen is mature and the broody type has sat eggs since her first year laying.
