Blind doggos deserve love, too 🥺🥺…and we just can’t seem to understand why the SWEETEST of all sweethearts – Cora – has not yet found the love that she is so very worthy of. After 7 years with her previous family, Cora started to lose her eyesight. Heartbreakingly enough, once she lost her vision…she also lost her family. 💔 Despite her confusion in being uprooted from everything she had ever known, Cora’s sweetness remains. She is an incredibly loving, low-key type of girl, and the person/family that gets to love on her for the remainder of her years is going to be so unbelievably lucky! 🥹💗
Cora (female) is now around 8 years old, so is officially in the senior years of life (no puppy-business here! 🙌🏼). She is thought to be a boxer mix of sorts and weighs-in right at 40lbs, so is the perfect medium-sized girl. With her vision impairment, there are obviously some specifics she requires in a forever home…but please believe us when we say that she has proven herself to be amazingly adaptable and is an all-around complete catch! 💝 Other than her blindness, Cora has received a clean bill of health. Yes, she has been let down. But all that she asks for is love! A love that will not pity her…but a love that will be her eyes, her strength, and her whole world. Because she deserves that (& more!). 🩷🙏🏼
Cora is:
✅ Completely potty-trained
✅ Seriously, as sweet as: 🥧
✅ Calm, quiet, and a lover of lounging
✅ Cuddly (she LOVES her snuggles!)
✅ Affectionate (SUCH a lover-girl😘)
✅ Cute as a button (obviously!😉)
✅ Crate-trained; has no issues snoozing quietly in her kennel😴
✅ A wonderful walking companion (& does great on-leash!) 👣🐾
✅ Completely ok with walking up & down stairs once she is accustomed to them (see the video in the comments below)!
When it comes to Cora’s home requirements, here is what we know she needs:
➡️ A calmer, quiet home. Cora’s previous home environments consisted of young kids, and they are simply just too much chaos/commotion for her. While she does just fine with children once she knows them/gets used to them, our commitment to her is to find the very best fit to allow her to live her very BEST life. Therefore, calm + quiet = a must!
➡️ No young children/kids must be ages 13+ (see the blurb above). Quick movements, loud noises, commotion, and busy-ness in general (all things that just come along with young kids/toddlers🙃) really stress Cora out. Therefore, an adult-only home/a home with children who are old enough to respect Cora, her space, and her need to become conditioned to her surroundings = a must.
➡️ While a fenced-in yard is recommended, it is not necessarily a requirement. Cora learns quickly, and she likes to be by her person/people, so she would adapt to being leashed (& obviously monitored) while outside.
➡️ She would do great with another calm, relaxed [most likely senior] dog who wouldn’t mind Cora following him/her around. She enjoys following their lead, but does *not* enjoy if they attempt to run/play/overly engage with her. So we think that another sweet senior would suit her perfectly!
➡️ She will take some ❗️TIME❗️ as she adjusts to a new home placement, and this is something that her person/people must understand. A home with blind dog experience would be a major perk, but we honestly don’t think that Cora requires it. As long as you have plenty of patience, an abundance of love, and the desire for some sweet snuggles…that is all Cora could ever ask for! 🫶🏼
