Adoption update on sweet Puffin!! 🤍

“Puffin is the perfect addition to our home. She and Hopper have been playing NONSTOP for over a week. She’s great with the kids and sprints around our big backyard. She loves bones and treats and toys and long walks at night and her bff Hopper

Just wanted to let you know that she’s a happy camper and so are we!”

Happy 8th birthday to one of our long-stay dogs, Captain Crunch! 🎉

This sweet boy has been in our care since August 2025 and we hate that he has to spend yet another birthday with us. But don’t worry, Captain Crunch is currently in a foster home so we know that he will be getting lots of treats and love today. 🥰

Appa has been with PAWS for almost 500 days now. 💔

We are so grateful for our dedicated foster, Ben, who continues to take him for “shelter breaks” to his house. Just look how happy he is in a home! 🥹

Here’s what you need to know about this senior guy: 👇

-XL couch potato (65 pounds)
-Has done well with kids
-Potty trained
-Always smiling
-Loves to give kisses
-Needs to be an only fur child
-Knows commands

At nine years old, Appa doesn’t require a super active lifestyle — just endless treats, belly rubs, and some high quality snuggle time. But most importantly, he just needs someone to give him a chance. ❤️

2 year old dog-friendly Shere Khan has been waiting for 436 days 🤎❤️‍🩹

This handsome boy is full of personality- playful, goofy, and a little quirky in the best way. He enjoys spending time outdoors, especially when there’s water to splash in or new places to discover. Shere Khan gets along well with other dogs, but should not live in a home with cats as he can be a bit too enthusiastic around them. He would love a family who will accompany him on adventures and give him plenty of love.

While he loves exploring, Shere Khan is just as happy to settle in for some snuggles. He loves being close to people and soaking up attention, whether that’s giving hugs, or curling up by your side. With his mix of fun-loving energy and sweet affection, Shere Khan is ready to be both your adventure buddy and your cuddle companion.

When Katniss came to PAWS from the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter, she was a mama cat who had the most adorable kittens. But like most families that enter the shelter system, her kittens were adopted quickly, leaving Katniss to sit and wait.

After several months (which shocked us!), this sweet girl found her home with Tabitha. According to her new mom: “Katniss is such a joy in our home. We brought her home with Twinkles and they are the sweetest little best buds. Katniss loves to snuggle with Twinkles on the couch, in the bed, or in a box. Katniss also loves to look out the windows and watch the neighborhood and the birds. We are so glad she and Twinkles picked us!“

Katniss may have had to wait a bit, but her new home was 100% worth that wait. ❤️
