D & S Retrievers D&S Retrievers is located in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. We breed black, yellow and chocolate Labrador Retrievers (NO silver or dilutes).

Quality Labs for your Home and the Hunt! Raising, training and hunting Labrador Retrievers is a major part of our lives. Our own dogs are well socialized and share time in our house as part of the family. Our labs are carefully selected for temperament, intelligence, drive and great looks. A lot of thought, careful planning, and research goes into each breeding. We do everything possible to ensure

that our litters will produce puppies that are genetically sound. All dogs in our breeding program have OFA Fair, Good or Excellent Hips, OFA Normal Elbows and are CERF/CAER certified. At D&S Retrievers we have chocolate, black and yellow Labrador Retrievers. Our pups are born and raised in our home and they are socialized by children, young adults, and adults alike. Pups are exposed to various sights and sounds and have plenty of play time in our outside turf area.

Sorry, I’m a day late again! Healthy check-ups today and all pups checked out healthy from head to toe and F***l exam was negative.
Final worming when they came home and photos.

Hazel & Bo will be bred in February 2026 again. We are accepting a few more deposits.

These pups will be wonderful family members and will also be able to flip a switch and turn it on in the field to be your loyal hunting companion or your next master hunter.

Weekly photos and 6-week shots today! Sorry I’m a day late!! Momma Hazel went home last Friday, we had lots of puppy visits last week and met all the new families! Healthy check-ups next Tuesday!

This has certainly been a tough week of notifications:
Prayers to the Buck Family...
Dear Deb and Scott, I hope this email finds you well. My family and I purchased a black lab from you in the summer of 2016. Ranger was from the Daphne x Yella litter born on May 23, 2016. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Ranger on November 8th of this year. He was never just a dog to us, but part of the family. There is a large hole in my family’s hearts as we morn the loss of Ranger. I still expect to see him on his spot on the sofa, where I always enjoyed a snuggle with him before I started my day. Feeding time isn’t the same with his empty dish and the bed seems empty without him lying by my feet stealing all the covers.

Ranger spent his almost 10 years with my family and I playing countless hours of fetch, many walks around our property and exploring the woods. If he wasn’t playing fetch or sleeping on the sofa, you could usually find him outside on the deck soaking up the sunshine. Ranger loved being wherever we were and one of the things I loved about him most, was his love for life and his “not a care in the world” attitude. If you were having a tough day, he would be sure to brighten it.

The hardest part is always the goodbye, but his body told me he was ready. As hard as the goodbye is, how lucky I am to have loved him for all his years. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have Ranger in our family.

Prayers to Brittany & Josh Stetler & Family, who said goodbye to their chocolate lab Bailey in September 2025. Bailey was a River x Krush puppy from October 9, 2013.
Brittany said they were on vacation and her parents had Bailey while they were away. He suddently stopped eating. When they arrived home he still wasn't eating and became very lethargic. After taking Bailey to the vet a mass was found on his lunch which was assumed to be cancer. He lost weight and wasn't mobile very much. The vet indicated the quality of life just wasn't there and it was the hardest decision they had to make.
Brittany's parents had gotten a pup from a different litter, but pick up was the same day, BlackJack was his name. BlackJack passed in 2023. Brittany said it was the first holiday that BlackJack or Bailey was there and was so very sad and unreal.
As I always say I know River was there at the end of the Rainbow Bridge to greet Bailey and now they are playing and running pain free with all the other D&S pups and we will see all of them one day again!

Prayers to another D&S family, Audrey & Will Kmetz, who had to say goodbye to their dear Aine Mae Belle in November, 2025. Aine was an Ellie x Yella pup from June 10, 2015.
Audrey posted the following:

Just under two weeks ago, we said goodbye to our beloved Aine Mae Belle who gave us 10 wonderful and joyous years as our furry family member. She was my first dog and I feel so spoiled and lucky to have been one of her people. We are cherishing our memories with her and hope you will help us remember her by sharing your Aine Dog stories with us…. The grief is immense but I know ultimately the joy she brought us will be greater at some point.
We will forever remember her:
- curling up into a ball in our laps
- sticking her nose about an inch from the bowl of homemade popcorn
- laying next to Jake when he was an infant careful not to get caught in his cords
- birding with Will
- being game for a game of fetch ANYTIME
- catching snowballs with her snout and eating them
- always coming to you when you needed her most.
… and for so much more. She wasn’t just our dog, she’s family and traveled with us adventuring! We joked that she was our therapy dog during the trials of the last 10 years but in all honesty, she was our rock. Our pack is left with a gaping hole and while it will never truly be filled again by her, we take comfort in all of the great memories with her. She was such a good pup - an amazing pup - and will be forever missed. 🐕‍🦺💔
