Lulu put on another great show this past Sunday. The weather was rainy, the course muddy, and everyone was a little wet... birds included.
There were 28 starters to compete in the open gun dog stake this past weekend in Polk PA. Lulu was off at the breakaway and we soon lost sight of her and her brace mate. We crossed through 2 tree lines and saw the dogs way out front at 350-400 yards through another tree line.
When we rode up Lulu was on point with lots of style. I flushed the bird, shot, and we were back racing forward. She kept her stamina and speed to the end and finished clean.
She placed 3rd out of the 28. Pretty good for her first time on this course!

Took this evening to work with Lulu before she competes in Pennsylvania. She had several good finds and her bird work was perfect.
Josita wanted in the picture too! She doesn’t get to be in the photos much but she’s behind the scenes always watching and waiting on me. I couldn’t train the field trial dogs without her. She’s a truly amazing horse.

Beech River Kennels would like your input! Who would be interested in dog training workshops if I start doing them locally?
This would be a group class with owners and their dogs to work on obedience and/or problem behaviors.

Had 2 great weekends in Michigan! Lulu placed 2nd in the Open All Age, she had 3 good runs, and I had the opportunity to train some of our horses for field trails.

Rip went home today. We found several birds, he displayed good manners, and handled some hard finds with ease.

Wirehaired Pointing Griffon “Rip” on his last bird of the day. Rip completed our summer training program and has transformed into a great gun dog. He’s now ready to go home to be with his owners!

Took the dogs back to the ag fields to run. We found several coveys of birds hanging around the edges and ditches. The dogs did a great job and as always learned something from their outing.
