🐾INTRODUCING OUR NEW PROGRAM: TAKE A CAT FOR A DAY!🐾

Ever wanted to spend some one-on-one time with one of our rescues? Now you can! ❤️

We are excited to introduce Take a Cat for a Day, a new opportunity to give one of our cats or kittens a little adventure outside of the rescue!

This program is perfect for:
🐾Potential adopters who want to get to know a cat or kitten's personality in a home environment before making the commitment to adopt.

🐾Animal lovers who simply want to spend a day giving one of our rescues extra attention, affection, and socialization.

🐾Our cats and kittens who deserve a break from the shelter, a change of scenery, and some extra love!

❤️ Participation Guidelines

To keep our cats safe and make this a positive experience for everyone, we ask that participants follow these guidelines:

1. Scheduling is required. Please contact Whisker Woods Rescue ahead of time to arrange your visit and select an available cat or kitten.

2. Participants must be approved. We will discuss your home environment and make sure the selected cat is a good fit.

3. Indoor adventures only. Cats must remain safely indoors at all times. No outdoor roaming, off-leash adventures, or unsupervised access outside.

4. Keep them separate from other animals. No introductions to resident pets or unfamiliar animals during the visit.

5. Supervision is required. Cats and kittens must be monitored throughout their entire visit and never left unattended with young children.

6. Follow all care instructions. Any feeding, medication, or special medical instructions provided by the rescue must be followed.

7. Use approved transportation. Cats must travel in a secure carrier when being transported.

8. Same-day return. Cats must be returned at the agreed-upon time unless other arrangements have been approved by the rescue.

What do we provide?
We'll discuss everything your selected cat needs for the day, including food, supplies, and any special care instructions.

Whether you're considering adoption or simply want to make a rescue cat's day a little brighter, we'd love to have you participate!

You don't have to adopt to make a difference. Sometimes, all it takes is one day of love. ❤️

Fostering gives some of our longest-term residents the opportunity to experience life outside of a cage, enjoy a home environment, and prepare for the loving forever family they've been waiting for.

Whether it's a short-term stay or a little extra time to decompress, fostering can make an incredible difference in a cat's life.

And the best part? We provide everything you need! Food, supplies, and medical care are covered by Whisker Woods Rescue. All you provide is a safe space, patience, and love. ❤️

There are so many ways to get involved and help our rescue grow! Volunteers can help with:

- Socializing and spending time with our current cats and kittens.

🏡A NEW PLAN FOR WHISKER WOODS RESCUE!🐾

Sometimes plans change, but that doesn't mean the dream has to stop.

Due to our recent unexpected expenses, including Thea's hospitalization and other costs, our original building project will be put on hold for now. It's still something we hope to accomplish in the near future, but we've been looking at another way to move forward without taking on such a large financial commitment.

The good news? WE ALREADY HAVE THE SPACE!❤️

Instead of building from the ground up, we have the opportunity to renovate our existing space and turn it into a dedicated Whisker Woods Rescue facility. It will have the same important features we envisioned for our original building, including designated treatment areas, medical supply storage, critical-care space, and room to better care for the cats and kittens who need us.

The difference? This renovation will cost significantly less than our original building plans, which were estimated at $30,000–$45,000.

Our current renovation estimate is approximately $1,500–$2,000 without equipment, with a larger estimated budget once equipment and additional necessities are included.

Right now, our biggest priority is getting the space cleaned out and raising the funds needed to purchase materials so we can begin installing the new ceilings, flooring, painting, lighting, and everything else needed to transform the space.

💚A LITTLE UPDATE FROM WHISKER WOODS RESCUE🐾

We want to take a moment to be transparent with our supporters. Right now, Whisker Woods Rescue is extremely low on funds, and we're working hard to get back on our feet.

With Thea's recent hospitalization, we unfortunately miscalculated the final expenses. Her bill came to $6,200, which was significantly more than we originally anticipated. On top of that, we experienced an unexpected water leak that required repairs and resulted in the loss of some of our powdered medications.

Between these unexpected expenses, our funding has taken a much bigger hit than we planned for.

We aren't making a direct fundraising plea, but if anyone feels led to contribute, donations of any amount are always appreciated and go directly toward helping us continue our mission of providing critical care to cats and kittens in need.

One of the biggest ways you can help us right now is by purchasing items from our Amazon Wishlist. Every supply purchased means one less expense coming out of our rescue funds, allowing us to slowly rebuild our funding and keep those funds available for unexpected medical emergencies.

🐾💗THEA UPDATE — WE’RE SEEING OUR GIRL COME BACK!💗🐾

Our sweet Thea is feeling SO much better, and it looks like her true inner kitten is finally starting to come out! 🥹💕 After everything she’s been through, seeing her personality shine through again is the best feeling.

✨ She has eaten her kitten chow for today!
🌡️ Her temperature is back to normal!
🫁 Her respiratory rate is normal!

We know she still has a road ahead of her, but these are the kind of updates we’ve been praying for. After days of fevers, hospitalization, and so much worry, we’re finally seeing some positive changes in our girl. ❤️‍🩹

🐾THEA UPDATE 💗 | SHE’S HOME!🐾

As we shared earlier, our sweet Thea was discharged this morning! ❤️ While she’s still not completely out of the woods, she’s doing a lot better, and we’re so thankful to have her back home.

Thea will have a follow-up vet appointment sometime this coming week, and she also has a referral in for internal medicine so we can continue working toward answers and making sure she gets the care she needs. She’s coming home on quite a few medications to continue the treatment she started in the hospital.

💔Thea’s hospital bill came to $3,200. As a rescue, expenses like this are a huge financial burden, especially when we still have so many other cats and kittens depending on us for their everyday needs and medical care.

We know we’ve asked for a lot of help over the last few days, and we cannot thank everyone enough for the support, prayers, shares, and donations. It truly means the world to us! ❤️

However, Thea’s journey isn’t over yet. Between her upcoming appointments, medications, and potential additional diagnostics, the expenses are still adding up on top of our typical rescue purchases.
