A Public F*ck You to Manna Pro:

As I watch what is the only tricolor who, as far anyone can remember, placed top ten at an ARBA National Convention die painfully, I would like to urge everyone who feeds their rabbits Manna Pro or any affiliate feed to stop immediately. This is a company who has not only been sued in the past for lying about including dangerous ingredients in their formula, but has a VERY long history of ignoring contaminants and using the excuse that their feed is milled in facilities that mill feeds for other species. Their non-existent quality control has long since been an issue and I have known many breeders over the years who have lost full herds to this brand. We live in a state where rabbit feed brands are very limited and I switched to Manna Pro this year as it is the ONLY feed available in my area with 18% protein, which is beneficial to moms and juniors and after the issues we had trying to work with the Show Hutch feed, the higher protein was very necessary. While I am normally very vigilant in checking my bags as I open and use them, in a day when I was not physically doing well myself and therefore unable to do my barn chores that day, they were fed whatever was in a newly opened bag from the new pallet we had ordered. I did not see this until the next day so for a full day my rabbits were exposed to at least 7 different kinds of feed that were NOT rabbit feed mixed into the bags of what was supposed to be only rabbit feed.
I have managed to drag poor Fiji through this for this long, but I am almost certain he will not survive the night at this point despite every possible intervention. We have so far lost 5 rabbits to this feed issue (Fiji will be #6 very soon) and continue to have several with diarrhea or stasis symptoms which we are treating aggressively. And I have one with just horrible bladder sludge, but I think that was from the hard switch to a new feed because I don't think she ate the contaminated feed.
I'm so deeply hurt by this and I am not even sure that I will continue breeding after this. I am trying to save who I can and I have been so caught up in that that I haven't even had the opportunity to process this fully, but with the loss of Radon today (who was my very demanding BEW junior doe who always made sure she got attention when I walked in the barn, even if that meant yanking on my shirt as I walked by, or jumping out of her cage, because she could open the door, and following me around yanking on my pants until I picked her up), and the impending loss of Fiji, I am just broken and ready to give up.

So F*ck you, Manna Pro. F*ck you for not caring enough about these little lives to even do basic batch checks. F*ck you for not learning from your previous lawsuits. F*ck you for your complete lack of accountability and allowing the ratio of contaminants to feed to shift completely in a whole batch and no one noticed. F*ck you for not even doing the bare minimum to protect the lives you are entrusted with.
I would have thought the lawsuits would have been enough for them to start taking this seriously, but I was clearly wrong.

If you feed Manna Pro, please please switch feeds. I am such an unbelievably careful person with my rabbits and I know that this could have been much worse and we could have lost everyone, but that doesn't make any of this ok. These animals are loved and they matter and if your animals matter to you please don't feed Manna Pro. I would not wish this on anyone.
