The emotions I'm carrying right now over these tiny little creatures has me on edge. This tiny girl is only 60 grams as of this morning. She was around 54 grams yesterday.

I've had issues in the past with preemies, and sometimes no matter how hard you try, they just don't make it. But as of now I have 3 littles with a good suckle, and good appetite. We have one little girl who is being tube fed. Her suckle is weak and aspiration risks are high.

But this little girl chugged down almost 4mls this morning all on her own. She's barely bigger than the syringe and all I can do now is stay hopeful she makes it 🙏🏻

The start of kitten season is here!

It's been a while, but i think it will be okay. Today I received 4 babies, and there were 2 more males that were gonna be taken care by someone else. One of the brothers passed away. Theyre just so small and definitely dehydrated.

Mom delivered yesterday but was dry as a bone. No milk production, and wasn't caring for them, or cleaning them. So i'm not sure if they even got any colostrum. But right now, gonna do our best to get these littles perked up some more.

Lord, help me 🤣😫

They won't be out of here until late tonight....and they won't take this stuff down when they leave either, meaning cats/dogs are still locked up until tomorrow evening. It's rough. Idk

I haven't eaten all day, and they'll be here far longer than expected, so there no way to even cook with all this darn plastic up and dust flying around. 😢

I need this crap to finish. I need tomorrow to just be done already 😩

⚠️⚠️⚠️Word to the people. Check your damn pipes. All this from a busted toilet pipe. Because of someone tightening a screw too tight. It cracked, and then flooded my entire downstairs 😐 ⚠️⚠️⚠️

✨Did you know that if you have a pacemaker, you can include it in your Will to be donated to a dog in need after you pass away?
Although pacemakers cannot be used for another human, they can help dogs with heart problems and potentially save their lives. You can arrange for the pacemaker to be sent to a vet of your choice.
Many pacemakers are simply thrown away, and dogs may die because people do not know about this option.
Donating the pacemaker can even save the dog's owner the cost of a new one, which can sometimes make a crucial difference in affording life-saving treatment.

Well, the cats are going haywire wondering where all their furniture went 😆

Yesterday, they dropped off a POD into our driveway, and today, they boxed up the downstairs and loaded everything up. Repairs to our ceiling, lights, walls, trims, painting, and hopefully, the island will be done on Monday. The past few weeks have been hell. It's been financially draining and hard on us to keep afloat. Even with insurance, we've had to spend a buttload to keep this moving.

It is what it is, am I right ?

Bonnie is a bit stressed today. So is Story and Phoebe. They've been hiding a lot, so I'm trying to keep the sweet Bon Bon happy with a room full of balls to play fetch with. She's been doing so well, and I sometimes forget that she won't be here forever. Right now, we just love her daily. Every second, she wants attention, she gets it, and she's honesty the best cat ever. I'm so thankful she's here. She knows her limits and is happy to vocalize that to us. When she was younger, she was so hard to get to slow down, and it made her sick, but now she plays, and then she rests as needed. She's truly a happy cat and would play fetch all day if you let her 😆 She's the best wifey to Mr Trilly, and she's been a great big sis to Meredith. I love watching them play with each other.

Anyway, I'm just checking in. ✔️
Hopefully, this mess will be done soon so I can get back to normal foster things. But I'm truly enjoying the break right now. It's been hard, but it's definitely needed. We just aren't financially able to take on any more right now, and we still have 3 to find homes for, who have been here a YEAR!! 🙏🏻

Happy Saturday, everyone !!

I'm still working away. But it's been good finding a routine.
Yesterday, I got a call from a shelter in Lampasas asking if I could take some pregnant cats/kittens, and for the first time in what seems like years, I had to say no.

I felt bad at first, but honestly, it felt good. I've spent so much time focusing all my energy on rescue that I've slacked on everything else. And right now, school is important to me. I won't take forever off, but it's nice to be able to focus on me right now.

I got a 2 week extension on this class since I didn't think I'd be done in time, but I think I'll finish sooner 😅 I was waiting on a book to arrive and it should be here soon.

Anyway, I will check back in soon. Meredith is doing okay, and so are the momma's (Story, Phoebe) and Rachel. I'm still trying to find them homes, but it's been hard.

1 more week of classes for round 2, and today, I had to draw a horses hoof 🥱😭🤣🫠

With color coding, too. Ugh. It's not my best work. I can draw plants, flowers, anything floral. But I still suck at random stuff like this. Let's just hope she's not grading my "art skills," hahaha 😆

Will be back next week once grades are posted 😉

Hello friends !! 🧡

It's been a long week, and I've been busy with online classes and pretty much daily appointments with inspectors, plumbers, etc, trying to get repairs done on my ceiling. They took over a week to dry everything out, and we'll have to have some stuff replaced because there was too much water damage from the flood 🙃

But i got the call from the veterinarian on Friday saying that Meredith's cardiac bloodwork came back fine. 🥳
Her heart is still enlarged, so for now, it's not the worst thing to worry about. But since she still can't figure out why she breathes so funny, she wants to wait to redo the x-rays when she's 6 months. We're delaying her spay as well until then. She wants better images of her lungs. As for her stomach, she's pretty sure she has delayed emptying, so her stomach isn't digesting her food as well as it should. She's still pretty backed up, so we're working on ways to get her cleaned out.

All in all, I'm just glad she's okay. It could have been a lot worse. She's doing well here, getting along with Trilly and Bonnie, being cute and trouble all at the same time. I'll keep yall updated when I know more 🙏🏻 And thank you to all the people who donated. I appreciate it immensely. These appointments are not cheap, and im just happy I can cover some it when needed.

📚 Our BACK TO BASICS SERIES: Pregnancy vs. Pyometra

Can you tell? Is she PREGNANT or does she have a LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION?

Pyometra is a bacterial infection of the uterus of an unspayed cat. It causes the uterus to fill with pus, often making the cat appear pregnant. This is a VERY SERIOUS condition that needs veterinary attention immediately as this infection can be fatal.

Signs of pyometra include a bloated abdomen, lethargy, vomiting, decreased appetite, excessive licking at the va**nal opening, blood in the urine, urinating outside of the litter box and more. There may or may not be discharge from the va**na. 🚨🚨 If your cat appears unwell, please take it to a veterinarian as quickly as possible. 🚨🚨 This can't wait. Pyometra can be avoided: spay your cat!

For more information about pyometra, visit https://www.thesprucepets.com/treating-pyometra-in-cats-4784166 or speak with your veterinarian.

Well this sucks 😕

1 year ago today I said goodbye to my best girl ever 💔

Gigi was my sweetest girl. I can't believe it's been a year since we said goodbye. Cardiac issues took her away from me. There was never even a slight chance at saving her. I got 10+ months to love her. Miss you so much baby girl.

Now we have Meredith, who may have cardiac issues as well, and we still have our beautiful Bonnie girl, with a Pericardial peritoneal diaphragmatic hernia, who's here until the very end.

I think Gigi knew we'd continue fighting for the one's without a voice. And I'm just thankful that I never question my gut feelings anymore. 🙏🏻

When I feel something is off, I run with it until I have answers. Thankful for good doctors, and to all the wonderful people who continue donating to help me save all these precious kittens 😸 ❤️ 💜
