Friends Of Berlin Animal Control-FOBAC

Friends Of Berlin Animal Control-FOBAC The Friends of Berlin Animal Control was founded in 1999, primarily to assist the town of Berlin municipal animal shelter and its homeless animals.

We currently partner with Berlin PetSmart, where you can view adoptable cats at their Adoption Center. FOBAC posts all of our adoptable pets on Adoptapet.com and Petfinder.com, as well as the Berlin Citizen, The Rare Reminder, and other publications and media. FOBAC's veterinarian visits the animal shelter regularly to vaccinate, test for disease, and examine the animals prior to adoption. Most of

the animals are brought to off-site locations where they are shown at adoption clinics. We currently have a partnership with PetSmart in Berlin, CT, which allows us to show some of our adoptable cats at their in-store Adoption Center. Store employees do not show or handle the cats, so please contact FOBAC if interested in adoption! When the Berlin Municipal Animal Shelter is full or an animal has been there too long, FOBAC will often adopt the animal and place it in a foster home, caring for it and socializing it until it is adopted into a permanent home. About the Central CT Cat Project (CCCP):

The Central Connecticut Cat Project (CCCP) was founded in 2001. Once a month we hold a large-volume, low cost spay and neuter clinic. At these clinics, all cats are vaccinated for distemper and rabies. The cats also get their nails trimmed. Feral cats undergo surgery at a discount price when brought in hav-a-heart traps and are ear notched. Financial assistance is offered to low-income families. Call us at 860-828-5287 to see if you qualify. The CCCP is funded by grants and donations. Our volunteers manage the operations by making all the appointments for each clinic, admitting patients prior to surgery, providing post-op care for the cats and discharging cats home to their owners. A breeding cat and their kittens can produce an unbelievable amount of cats. Stray cats can have two litters of kittens per year, with 2.8 kittens surviving per litter. A cat's average life span is just over 10 years. Given this information, please consider these numbers...

1 year_____________________12 Cats

3 years____________________182 Cats

5 years__________________12,680 Cats

7 years_________________420,715 Cats

10 years______________80,399,780 Cats

Please consider these numbers the next time you think one more litter won't make any difference. Pet Food Pantry:

The Pet Food Pantry opened in March of 2008. For the first year and a half we operated out of a P.O.D. storage container donated by a local business. However, the poor economy put an end to the donation, and we now operate out of a volunteer's garage. Many of our pet food donations come from drop-off bins located in local supermarkets in Berlin and Kensington. We hold regular "Fill-a-Truck" events to help fill our shelves for families in need. Currently we serve over forty families in need, helping them to keep their pets properly fed.

URGENT ***** URGENT **** URGENT
Please consider adopting a dog from the shelter. We have 2 Pittie mixes that have been here a long time. Zoomer has been here 6 months and Cookie 4 months. Both are fully vetted and spayed and really sweet. We understand it is difficult to adopt Pittie mixes because of home owners insurance and landlords don't normally allow it. WESLEY - Wesley was found outside. He's about 2-3 years old. He does not photograph well because he has some battle scars from living outside. He just had blood work done that shows he is healthy and now ready to start his next big adventure as an indoor only boy.
Wesley loves to be pet or brushed and loves his treats and food.
Although he enjoys being with you and will follow you from room to room, he is not fond of being picked up and not a cuddler. For this reason he would be best in a home without children. He is an independent gentle giant and very chill. Eating and relaxing are his favorite things.
He has been calm with other cats in the adoption center, but may prefer to be an only cat or with another independent kitty if introduced properly.
Wesley is up to date on all shots, FIV/FELV negative and neutered.
If you would like to have a meet & greet with Wesley please complete an online application for adoption at fobac.org OR Petfinder.com

MASON - Mason came to us after his "pet mom" died and there was no other family member to take him. He is very scared, confused and traumatized right now. Mason needs a cat savvy home that will help him acclimate. He needs to be with someone who will be patient while he adjusts and give him the love that he needs.
He needs an adult only home. He came to us with 2 other cats from the same household, so we believe he'll be ok with other cats.
Mason is 7 years old. He is up to date on all vaccines and is neutered.
If you would like to have a meet & greet with Mason please complete an online application for adoption at fobac.org OR fobac on Petfinder.com
